Job Description

Apple is where individual imaginations gather together, committing to the values that lead to great work. Every new product we build, service we create, or Apple Store experience we deliver is the result of us making each other’s ideas stronger. That happens because every one of us shares a belief that we can make something wonderful and share it with the world, changing lives for the better. It’s the diversity of our people and their thinking that inspires the innovation that runs through everything we do. When we bring everybody in, we can do the best work of our lives. Here, you’ll do more than join something — you’ll add something. The Vision Products Group (VPG) is looking for an Interaction Designer to help us push the limits of the next generation of interactive experiences on our platform. Apple Vision Pro is a revolutionary spatial computer that seamlessly blends digital content with your physical space. It will allow us to do the things we love in ways never before possible — all while staying connected to the people around us. This hands-on Technical Experience Designer position entails working with an Emmy® Award-winning cross-discipline team to transform visionary ideas and concepts into groundbreaking content. We are looking for someone who is ready to jump into a world of innovation and R&D—someone with a proven track record for shipping complex projects under demanding timelines.

As a Technical Experience Designer, you will bridge the disciplines of design and engineering for interactive experiences. The ideal candidate brings expertise in programming or scripting as well as creative insight into what makes for compelling interactive entertainment. You will have one foot in development and the other in production as you work closely with a team of designers, artists, animators, engineers, and more to deliver innovative, genre-defining experiences.

  • Build systems and interaction mechanics in collaboration with engineering, and work closely with art and animation on complex interactive sequences.
  • Own the design and technical implementation of user interfaces in spatial interactive entertainment experiences, including menus, front end, and in-experience interaction interface.
  • Partner with an Experience Designer as the main point of content integration for other teams, and help manage experience story, structure, pacing, and flow in collaboration with a cross-discipline team.
  • Research, prototype, and develop UI solutions for interactive spatial experiences.
  • Act as a producer for systems, interaction mechanics, and user experience, working alongside project management to ensure positive communication and problem solving between disciplines.
  • Work on both internal R&D and shipping projects.
  • Try new things and fail, then learn from those failures as part of the creative process.
  • BA/BS/MA/MS, Computer Science, Game Development / Design, Interactive Media, and relevant industry experience.
  • 7+ years shipping interactive entertainment experiences.
  • Shipped at least one high profile experience in a technical design or gameplay programming role.
  • Experience with realtime 3D game engines such as Unity, Unreal, or similar.
  • Proficient in Javascript, C# or similar scripting language for interactive systems design.
  • Deep knowledge of 3D math concepts for programming real-time interactive experiences.
  • Experience with 3D creative software such as Maya, Blender, or similar.
  • Experience with UI design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, After Effects, Figma, or similar.
  • Excellent problem solving, creative thinking, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Strong understanding of design philosophy for interactive entertainment experiences.
  • Creative insight into designing intuitive user experience solutions.
  • Highly collaborative teammate, comfortable in a multi-disciplinary studio environment.
  • Passion for creating imaginative experiences powered by cutting-edge technology.
  • Desire to grow interactive entertainment beyond traditional experiences.
  • Proficient in Swift, SwiftUI, and UIKit.
  • Experience in spatial computing, VR, or AR development is a plus.
