Job Description

Imagine what you could do here. New ideas have a way of becoming extraordinary products, services, and customer experiences very quickly. Bring passion and dedication to your job and there's no telling what you could accomplish! Dynamic, smart people and inspiring, innovative technologies are the norm here. The people who work here have reinvented entire industries with all Hardware products. The same passion for innovation that goes into our products also applies to our practices strengthening our commitment to leave the world better than we found it. Join us to help deliver the next groundbreaking product.

This role is all about making systems that have never been made before. Working with cross-functional engineering teams to define new prototype systems, design electronics that implement them, build them, and validate them. This role requires an engineer who is familiar with a full development cycle, who thrives when distilling clarity from uncertainty, and who can coordinate effectively across organizations, some international. You will be expected lead electrical engineering initiatives by example, drawing upon your previous experience and adapting to the unique needs of the program. As appropriate, you will be expected to manage individuals and guide their work as well as their growth.

  • Design and validate high-performance analog/mixed signal circuits that interface with state of the art optical components and meet high level system requirements
  • Implement a variety of PCBs and flexes that integrate multiple analog and digital circuits into prototype systems
  • Identify and analyze system tradeoffs of implementation strategies including PCB functionality partitioning, approach to testing and validation, flexibility vs. size/power
  • Plan electrical engineering work with other leads to define milestones, then guide and focus team members to deliver on time
  • Facilitate clear, efficient communication within the electrical engineering team and cross-functionally to keep stakeholders in sync
  • Directly manage individual contributors as appropriate

Key Qualifications

  • BS degree in EE or related field
  • Experience designing analog and digital circuits
  • Experience with various schematic capture tools, such as Eagle, Altium, or Cadence
  • Experience taking system through a full cycle – architecture, design, fab, bringup, debug, characterization
  • Experience with standard lab equipment (e.g. multimeters, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers)

Additional Requirements

  • 10+ years of industry experience in electrical engineering
  • Familiarity with systems that include sensitive analog/mixed-signal circuits, FPGAs, and embedded microcontrollers
  • Experience with circuit simulation tools, such as Hspice, LTspice, or Spectre
  • Skilled with PCB layout on complex multi-layer boards
  • Experience working with multiple cross-functional teams (e.g. software, mechanical, optical) to balance design tradeoffs
  • Experience with supporting factory builds and scaling from hand-built prototypes to 1000s of units
  • Exposure to various system modeling and simulation tools, such as ANSYS, Verilog A/MS, Simulink, COMSOL
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
