Job Description

The Technical Project Manager at PlayStation Studios will oversee the lifecycle of multiple technical projects, ensuring timely delivery, scope adherence, and quality. This role involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams to define objectives and deliverables, developing detailed project plans, and providing regular updates to stakeholders. Responsibilities include risk management, cultivating strong stakeholder relationships, fostering a collaborative team culture, and managing projects with distributed resources internationally. The ideal candidate possesses 2+ years of project management experience (preferably in the video game industry), strong technical knowledge, excellent communication and global coordination skills, and a proven track record of successful project delivery.

Division Overview

PlayStation Studios Tech, Creative & Services is the global collection of central teams that provide world-leading support to PlayStation game development studios, platforms and beyond. From Sound, Music, Creative, Motion Capture, Visual Arts, QA, Co-Development, and Localization, to the many tools and tech teams that underpin much of PlayStation’s shared technology, the Tech, Creative and Services groups work with all of PlayStation Studio’s game development teams, and many areas of the PlayStation Platform and network infrastructures. 

Working closely with Tech, Creative & Services Stakeholders, the Technical Project Manager will help drive, track and support a portfolio of technical projects and initiatives across PlayStation Studios.

 

Responsibilities

  • Project Management: Oversee the lifecycle of multiple projects, ensuring timely delivery, scope adherence, and quality.
  • Collaboration: Partner with cross-functional teams to define objectives, requirements, and deliverables. 
  • Planning: Develop and maintain detailed project plans, including milestones, tasks, dependencies, and resource allocation.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Provide regular updates to ensure alignment and transparency.
  • Risk Management: Identify and address risks proactively to ensure project success.
  • Relationship Building: Cultivate strong stakeholder relationships to understand and address their needs.
  • Team Culture: Foster collaboration, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement.
  • Travel: Ability to travel and manage projects with distributed resources in international locations

Requirements: 

  • Experience: 2+ years in project management, preferably in the video gaming industry, with a proven track record of delivering complex projects on time and within budget. 
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of software development processes, technologies, and agile methodologies.
  • Communication: Ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and collaborate across all organizational levels.
  • Global Coordination: Skilled at managing distributed teams across international locations. • Problem-Solving: Critical-thinking skills and a creative, results-oriented approach to challenges.
  • Organizational Skills: Proficient in task prioritization, managing multiple projects, and meeting deadlines.
  • Adaptability: Agile in responding to changing requirements with a growth mindset.
  • Autonomy: Self-driven with the ability to align actions with strategic objectives.
  • Teamwork: Positive and approachable, fostering strong working relationships.
  • Growth mindset: Responding well to feedback with a track record of trying and learning new things.

Nice to have:

  • Technical Background: Experience as a software developer or tester, offering insight into development workflows. 
  • Certifications: PMP or equivalent project management training.
  • Tools Expertise: Advanced knowledge of project management tools like Jira, Wrike, or Microsoft Project (bonus for Jira and Confluence).
  • Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with the unique challenges of the video gaming industry.
  • Agile Experience: Hands-on experience as a Scrum Master or Product Owner.

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location. 

Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.

This is a flexible role that can be remote, with varying pay ranges based on geographic location. For example, if you are based out of Seattle, the estimated base pay range for this role is listed below.

$135,400 - $203,000 USD
