Job Description

As a Tools Programmer at Double Eleven, you'll collaborate with designers, artists, and programmers to create and optimize tools for game development. Responsibilities include writing robust tools and plugins in C++, C#, MaxScript, and Python; automating development tasks; writing debugging tools; improving workflows; and enhancing user experience. You'll work on streamlining game development, eliminating technical bottlenecks, and automating systems to improve efficiency. The company has worked on many AAA titles and offers a supportive and flexible work environment.
Must Have:
  • Experience with 3DS Max

Description

We’re looking for a Tools Programmer to join our award winning team in Middlesbrough (UK), home to the beautiful North Yorkshire coastline and countryside. 

As a Tools Programmer at Double Eleven, you’ll be working alongside the developers of some of the best selling and highest rated video games of all time. You’ll play a pivotal role in streamlining our game development, designing and optimising tools for designers, artists and programmers.  Your work will enhance workflows, eliminate technical bottlenecks and automate systems - allowing teams to focus on what they do best, making incredible games.

As a global gaming company, we've enabled millions to conquer Minecraft Dungeons, battle in Rust Console Edition and create new adventures in Fallout 76. 

Recently, we collaborated with Rockstar Games to bring Red Dead Redemption to the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 as well as partnered with Obsidian Entertainment on Grounded: Fully Yoked Edition for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 and 5.

What you’ll be doing

  • Work with designers, artists, and gameplay and graphics programmers to understand their needs and provide tailored solutions
  • Write robust tools and plugins in C++, C#, MaxScript, and Python
  • Write scripts to automate various development tasks, and to improve integration with third-party software
  • Write debugging tools for profiling performance, tracking memory usage, and detecting issues in-game.
  • Improve workflow and user experience for artists and designers

What we’re looking for

  • Experience working with 3DS Max
  • Experienced with Python, MaxScript, C++ and C#
  • Experienced with proprietary engines
  • Able to break down and structure tasks to meet deadlines efficiently
  • Tools champion – You understand that better tools lead to better games and know how to work with development teams to refine workflows
  • Able to effectively communicate with non technical disciplines in order to implement the most effective solutions
  • Ba able to apply logical thinking and creativity to resolve challenges efficiently
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with team members from other departments
  • Continuously refine processes to improve efficiency and prevent future issues
