Job Summary
Gravity Well is seeking a motivated and skilled VFX Artist to join its growing team. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to the visual effects of the company's first intellectual property, encompassing everything from initial concept and creation to final implementation within the game. The artist will be responsible for crafting beautiful, stylized, and performant real-time visual effects for both gameplay and immersive environments, collaborating closely with other artists, designers, and engineers.
Must Have
- Create beautiful, stylized and performant visual effects for real-time gameplay
- Create VFX for both gameplay and immersive environments
- Collaborate directly with other artists, designers and engineers to solve VFX needs
- Work closely with the Art Director and other VFX artists to help keep quality and style consistent across all environments
- Write clear, concise documentation and provide training to ensure the team understands and can effectively use any VFX pipeline and tool created
- 3+ years of game development experience with at least one shipped title in a VFX role
- Proficiency in Maya or other 3D package
- Proficiency in Unreal Engine and the capacity to contribute to the development of a VFX pipeline
- Experience with both stylized and realistic VFX work
- Strong sense of using VFX to bring environments to life

Job Description
We are looking for a motivated, passionate, and skilled VFX Artist to join our growing team. You’ll have the opportunity to contribute to the visual effects of our first IP - everything from concept to creation to implementation.
What You'll Do:
- Create beautiful, stylized and performant visual effects for real-time gameplay.
- Create VFX for both gameplay and immersive environments.
- Collaborate directly with other artists, designers and engineers to solve VFX needs.
- Work closely with the Art Director and other VFX artists to help keep quality and style consistent across all environments.
- Write clear, concise documentation and provide training to ensure the team understands and can effectively use any VFX pipeline and tool created.
Ideally You'll Have:
- 3+ years of game development experience with at least one shipped title in a VFX role
- Proficiency in Maya or other 3D package
- Proficiency in Unreal Engine and the capacity to contribute to the development of a VFX pipeline
- Experience with both stylized and realistic VFX work. Our project straddles that line, and experience with both is usually the best fit for our art direction
- Strong sense of using VFX to bring environments to life
What You’ll Get:
The base pay for this role is:
- VFX Artist: $100,000 to $125,000 USD per year
- Senior VFX Artist: $125,000 to $175,000 per year
- Principal VFX Artist: $175,000 to $200,000 per year;
(or equivalent in your local currency). We pay fairly across our global team regardless of your location but it will differ based on factors such as experience, qualifications etc.

Where You'll Work:
This position is for US and Canadian residents. We have an office in California if you like to come to an office, but most employees work from home across different US time zones and that's totally fine.
