Job Summary

Gravity Well is seeking a highly creative and skilled Sound Designer (Senior to Principal) for a full-time remote role. This position focuses on asset creation and implementation using Unreal Engine and Wwise. The successful candidate will design sounds for a wide range of characters, environments, weapons, and abilities, authoring them in Wwise and collaborating with the Technical Sound Designer to implement them for an immersive player experience. The role requires close collaboration with audio, design, engineering, and animation teams.

Must Have

  • Collaborate closely with the Audio Director to determine scope of work, planning and execution of sound design creation and implementation.
  • Design, record, edit, and integrate world-class sound effects, ambience using DAWs and middleware (Wwise).
  • Prepare and test for implementation accuracy, as well as collaborating with internal and external team members to address bugs and optimize sounds in the product.
  • Communicate effectively with technical teams and software developers to ensure seamless and efficient sound implementation.
  • Work closely with design, engineering, and animation teams to meet creative and technical goals.
  • Troubleshoot audio issues, manage performance, and ensure high-quality, efficient audio integration.
  • 5+ years of experience creating sonic experiences for AAA games.
  • Experience with Wwise.
  • Experience working on Unreal Engine 5.
  • Experience with sound design synthesis and latest plugins.
  • Proven communication and collaboration skills.
  • Demonstrated skills in professional DAWs.
  • Experience testing implementation of sounds.
  • Troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
  • Time-management and organizational skills to meet delivery specifications and deadlines.
  • Understanding of Design Systems and systems thinking.
  • Understand accessibility requirements.

Good to Have

  • Experience scripting sounds in different programming languages.
  • Experience in Unreal Audio Implementation using Wwise.

We are seeking a highly creative and skilled Sound Designer (Senior to Principal) to join our team at Gravity Well. This full-time role will focus on asset creation and implementation using Unreal & Wwise. You will design sounds for a wide range of characters, environments, weapons and abilities; author them in Wwise and work with our Technical Sound Designer to implement them and achieve the most immersive experience for our players.

What You'll Do:

Ideally You'll Have:

  • 5+ years of experience creating sonic experiences for AAA games

What You’ll Get:

The base pay for this role is:

  • Senior Audio Designer: $125,000 to $175,000 USD per year
  • Principal Audio Designer: $175,000 to $200,000 per year;

(or equivalent in your local currency). We pay fairly across our global team regardless of your location but it will differ based on factors such as experience, qualifications etc.

Where You'll Work:

This position is for US and Canadian residents. We have an office in California if you like to come to an office, but most employees work from home across different US time zones and that's totally fine.
