Wolters Kluwer's Legal and Regulatory U.S. division is seeking a Vice President of Innovation and AI to drive new value creation through strategic use of AI, data science, and intelligent content workflows. This leader will report to the General Manager, focusing on deploying effective AI solutions for customer-facing products and internal workflows. The role requires 10+ years of experience applying AI to complex business problems, with a proven track record of launching innovations that deliver measurable impact across diverse portfolios.
Must have:
  • Lead design and execution of customer-centric, cross-enterprise innovation strategy, focusing on accelerating AI adoption.
  • Identify, prioritize, and enable AI initiatives across customer platforms, product capabilities, and editorial workflows.
  • Serve as senior strategic advisor within LRUS and architect AI-driven business models.
  • Serve as the local LRUS AI representative and participate with divisional and corporate centers of excellence.
  • Partner with multiple product and DXG teams to embed AI into next-generation legal and compliance solutions.
  • Collaborate with editorial and UX leadership to modernize and automate content, including taxonomy creation, enrichment, tagging, and regulatory intelligence.
  • Deliver pilot projects, MVPs, and scaled deployments with clear go-to-market or internal adoption strategies.
  • Lead deployments of AI that drive efficiency and productivity—particularly within editorial and regulatory monitoring teams.
  • Measure and communicate gains in throughput, accuracy, and speed from AI-driven efforts.
  • Partner with members of product teams, DXG and clients to create new market-leading expert solutions.
  • Leverage market insights and direct engagement with legal, regulatory, and compliance professionals to shape AI-enabled product experiences.
  • Track and act on trends in legal tech, generative AI, and compliance automation to drive competitive advantage and market differentiation.
  • Ensure with DXG that all AI applications adhere to responsible AI practices with embedded transparency, explainability, regulatory traceability, and auditability.
  • Work with LR division AI leads as well as DXG, compliance, legal, and risk teams to establish AI governance frameworks.

  • Experience partnering with Product Management teams and clients to define new value propositions and test technical and GTM feasibility.

Job Details

Legal and Regulatory U.S. is focused on the strategic use of artificial intelligence, data science, and intelligent content workflows. The business covers a varied portfolio including Legal Research in US and cross border, Medical Claims and Content, Retirement Plan Compliance and Legal Operations Software. In addition, within the Legal Research space, the business is focused on value propositions around legal and regulatory compliance.

We are seeking a Vice President Innovation and AI to continue the effort to drive innovation and new value creation across these diverse portfolios and in particular drive deployment of meaningful value creation through the use of AI. Reporting directly to the General Manager, this role will facilitate the development and deployment of effective solutions across both customer-facing products and internal product workflow.

The ideal candidate brings 10+ years of hands-on experience applying AI to solve complex business problems—with a proven track record of successfully launching innovations that deliver measurable impact. This leader will partner across the business, including with product leaders and teams, editorial leadership, and DXG/GBS technology functions to define and execute an innovation agenda that enhances speed, intelligence, and value across the business.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Innovation Focus and Leadership Across the Portfolio -

  • Lead the design and execution of a customer-centric, cross-enterprise innovation strategy, with a focus on accelerating AI adoption and deployment
  • Identify, prioritize, and help enable AI initiatives across customer platforms, product capabilities and editorial workflows
  • Serve as a senior strategic advisor within LRUS, and architect AI-driven business models that generate measurable commercial value
  • Serve as the local LRUS AI representative and participate with divisional and corporate centers of excellence (product, content, partnerships) to advance key AI initiatives

Execution Across Product and Editorial –

  • Partner with multiple product and DXG teams to embed AI into next-generation legal and compliance solutions
  • Collaborate with editorial and UX leadership to modernize and automate content, including taxonomy creation, enrichment, tagging, and regulatory intelligence
  • Deliver pilot projects, MVPs, and scaled deployments with clear go-to-market or internal adoption strategies

Product and Content Efficiency Gains –

  • Lead deployments of AI that drive efficiency and productivity—particularly within editorial and regulatory monitoring teams
  • Measure and communicate gains in throughput, accuracy, and speed from AI-driven efforts

Customer and Market Engagement –

  • Partner with members of product teams, DXG and clients to create new market-leading expert solutions leveraging client insight, premium content, and technology
  • Leverage market insights and direct engagement with legal, regulatory, and compliance professionals to shape AI-enabled product experiences
  • Track and act on trends in legal tech, generative AI, and compliance automation to drive competitive advantage and market differentiation

Responsible AI & Governance –

  • Ensure with DXG that all AI applications adhere to responsible AI practices with embedded transparency, explainability, regulatory traceability, and auditability
  • Work with LR division AI leads as well as DXG, compliance, legal, and risk teams to establish AI governance frameworks that are suitable for high-stakes enterprise use

Success Criteria –

  • Establishes a robust framework for AI innovation initiatives across the portfolio based on value creation, customer need, and long-term growth potential
  • Collaborates with LRUS Executive team to augment and enhance the product/segment level roadmaps with AI innovation initiatives based on prioritization and opportunity
  • Stands up LRUS portfolio AI innovation process with key stakeholders including transparent steps, gating and success criteria
  • Launches a minimum of three new, differentiated AI offerings within first twelve months that meet or exceed revenue, margin, or user adoption goals
  • Embeds AI, data and emerging tech capabilities into product portfolio roadmap in ways that deliver defensible value and scale
  • Reduces time-to-market of AI initiatives and improves quality through implementation of agile, experimentation-based innovation processes and executes multiple experiments, filtering these as they are evaluated through innovation gating process
  • Drives alignment across product, technology, content and commercial teams to ensure seamless execution of portfolio innovation and AI priorities
  • Expands presence in new or adjacent markets when appropriate by launching AI solutions tailored to emerging segments
  • Demonstrates strong AI ROI across innovation channel

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience designing, developing, and deploying AI-powered solutions, with a strong emphasis on real-world business applications and measurable success
  • Deep technical fluency in applied AI (machine learning, NLP, LLMs) with demonstrated ability to align AI tools to regulatory, legal, and business contexts
  • Proven leadership and strong collaboration with product, operations, data science, editorial, and DXG/engineering partners
  • Strong executive communication and influence skills; ability to align teams and drive transformation across a matrixed organization
  • Track record of shipping commercially successful, AI-enabled products with a frugal, iterative execution model—balancing speed, customer insight, and measurable ROI
  • Unique ability to operate across strategy and execution—from crafting architecture blueprints and taxonomies to launching explainable, AI-powered content workflows
  • Must be able to lead client-facing sessions to map customer strategies and challenges into WK-aligned innovation roadmaps and product demonstrations
  • Demonstrated ability to modernize content and editorial operations—converting legacy workflows into AI-enriched, taxonomy-driven, intelligent systems

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in data science, computer science, engineering, or a related technical or business field
  • Track record of commercially successful product innovations deploying new technology
  • Experience partnering with Product Management teams and clients to define new value propositions and test technical and GTM feasibility
  • Experience with legal content, regulatory tracking, compliance frameworks, or professional publishing operations
  • Familiarity with AI governance models and frameworks used in enterprise and regulated settings
