For those who want to be involved in cutting-edge autonomous driving technology and enhance their skills and career, please apply!
Job Description
1. Department's Development Area, Business Overview, and Role/Position within R&D
We are responsible for developing vehicles equipped with autonomous driving/driving support (AD/ADAS) technology, one of the core technologies supporting Nissan Intelligent Mobility. Our role involves setting performance targets, conducting real-vehicle suitability tests on domestic and international test courses and public roads, and finalizing product specifications.
While experiments might be perceived as simply executing predefined tasks, vehicle experiments at Nissan Motor involve independently thinking to create products that delight customers, taking responsibility for vehicle performance.
2. Specific Responsibilities and Expected Role/Position within and outside the Department
Specific Responsibilities:
Responsible for the following product development tasks in the autonomous driving/driving support (AD/ADAS) domain for vehicles to be sold in a few years:
- Performance target setting for AD/ADAS systems:
- Formulate targets based on market requirements, competitor performance, etc. This includes market research and competitor vehicle analysis. Quantitatively determine specific target values from research data.
- Development of new technology/function evaluation methods.
- Suitability and real-vehicle testing on test courses:
- Perform tuning on test courses to achieve desired characteristics and provide daily feedback to design and prototype teams.
- Suitability and real-vehicle testing on domestic and international public roads:
- Conduct experiments in domestic and international environments to verify if the performance developed on test courses functions as intended on public roads.
- This often involves collaboration with overseas partners. For example, with the new Leaf, many tests were conducted in Europe in collaboration with partners.
- BigData analysis to research customer usage patterns.
Expected Role/Position within and outside the Department:
- (Within department) Experiment planning ability, technical analysis of experiment results, setting performance targets, and collaborating with relevant departments to achieve them.
- (Outside department) Logical and customer-centric target setting, technical analysis of experiment results, and experiment coordination.
3. Workplace Environment and Working Style (Member Composition, Workplace Atmosphere, Characteristics)
We are a department of approximately 80 people across two locations, the Tochigi Test Course and the Technical Center, conducting vehicle experiments for mass-produced autonomous driving/driving support technologies.
At the Tochigi Test Course, each team member performs AD/ADAS performance suitability for their assigned vehicle model, while at the Technical Center, they handle verification experiments through actual driving.
The environment is diverse, with mid-career hires and foreign nationals, and frequent collaboration opportunities with overseas partners. Perhaps due to the rapid progress in the industry, it is a workplace where it is easy to challenge new things without being bound by preconceived notions.
Background for Recruitment
Autonomous driving technology is a core technology supporting Nissan Intelligent Mobility. We are fully committed to expanding the number of ProPILOT-equipped vehicles/regions and commercializing new technologies ahead of competitors. The aim is to strengthen domestic and international experimental development to deliver competitive products to customers in a timely manner, accelerating the practical application and market introduction of next-generation technologies.
