Job Description

This co-op position at WB Games Boston involves maintaining and implementing key game systems and features for an upcoming unannounced mobile strategy title. It's an entry-level opportunity for Software Engineer Co-ops to improve player experience, build new features, investigate technical issues, and collaborate with designers and artists. Interns will develop and refine gameplay systems for mobile clients (Android/iOS), focusing on bug fixing, optimization, UI improvements, and building new systems, while owning their work and taking feedback.
Good To Have:
  • Experience with Git or other revision control systems
  • Familiarity with the Game of Thrones television series and/or series of books
  • Experience developing for iOS/Android
  • Experience with third party game engines (Unity is preferred)
Must Have:
  • Comfort with basic software development including coding, knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and complexity analysis
  • Experience programming in C# or another object-oriented language
  • Ability to work in a collaborative environment and effectively communicate with both technical and non-technical team members
  • Curiosity, an open mind, and a willingness to learn and take feedback
  • Actively enrolled in an accredited college or university degree program in Computer Science or related field for the full duration of the internship
  • Rising Junior, Senior or Graduate student (18 years or older)
  • Academic good standing (3.0 or above GPA)
  • Presently authorized to work for any employer in the United States and not require work visa sponsorship now or in the future

Warner Bros. Games Boston is a Warner Bros. Games development studio focused on creating free-to-play games for mobile platforms. The studio is utilizing its extensive expertise in creating persistent online worlds that foster powerful social gaming communities to develop its hit mobile game, Game of Thrones: Conquest.

Your New Role

This co-op will be located in the Needham, MA area. The selected co-op will be expected to join us in the office on a regular cadence based on the manager’s in-office schedule. WB Games Boston is looking for Software Engineer Co-ops to join our game engineering teams! In this position, you will have a hands-on role maintaining and implementing key game systems and features for an upcoming unannounced mobile strategy title.

This role is an opportunity to get your foot in the door to the exciting and rewarding Games Industry. This is a genuinely entry-level opportunity at a studio that is committed to inclusive and equitable hiring. Prior professional experience is not required.

Your Role Accountabilities

  • As part of our game engineering team, you will work to improve the player experience, build out new features, investigate tricky technical issues and bugs, and collaborate with designers and artists to help deliver an ambitious new title.
  • Develop and refine gameplay systems to support our mobile game client (Android/iOS). This may include bug fixing, optimization, UI improvements and building new systems, and may be on your own with team assistance or as part of a bigger team effort.
  • Own your work when given prioritized goals and objectives.
  • Work closely with other team members and take technical and professional feedback.

Some previous systems developed by interns include:

  • Our Alternate Splash Screen system, which lets the studio customize the loading experience according to events that are run in-game.
  • Our notification overlay system, letting players customize what game information they want to receive.
  • Our trinket template system, letting players quickly craft better gear.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Comfort with basic software development including coding, knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and complexity analysis
  • Experience programming in C# or another object-oriented language
  • The ability to work in a collaborative environment and effectively communicate with both technical and non-technical team members
  • Curiosity, an open mind, and a willingness to learn and take feedback
  • Must be actively enrolled in an accredited college or university degree program in Computer Science or related field for the full duration of the internship (proof of enrollment required)
  • Must be a rising Junior, Senior or Graduate student (18 years or older)
  • Must be in academic good standing (3.0 or above GPA) A transcript will be required to verify your GPA if an offer is extended.
  • Warner Bros. Discovery will only consider candidates who are presently authorized to work for any employer in the United States and who will not require work visa sponsorship from Warner Bros. Discovery now or in the future in order to retain their authorization to work in the United States. Candidates currently on any student or exchange visa, including F-1 CPT, F-1 OPT, J-1, M-1, etc., will not be eligible for the internship program.

The Nice to Haves:

What to know before applying:

  • The duration of the Spring 2026 co-op program is 5 months from January to May dependent on the student’s availability based on the semester schedule.
  • Co-ops will be expected to work 35-40 hours per week in a hybrid capacity for the full duration of the program.
  • Our internships are paid opportunities with a competitive hourly wage. Credit is not required; however, we will provide the necessary documentation for school credit if desired. Relocation is not provided.
