Performs system analysis and uses simulation modeling to propose algorithmic or system modifications that enable optimization of performance and power.

Minimum Qualifications:

•    Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.

*Works in the lab, can use hazardous chemicals (e.g., glue, machinery).

Preferred Qualifications:

•    Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.

•    2+ years of experience working in one or more multimedia technology areas (i.e., speech, audio, imaging, computer vision, display, sensing, biometrics, augmented/virtual reality).

•    1+ year of Systems Engineering or related work experience.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

•    Works under supervision to design systems-level software and hardware enabling multimedia functionality.
•    Participates in coordination of design reviews for subsystem development; works with project team to identify design constraints.
•    Collaborates within the immediate team to design products that meet internal customer requirements and standards.
•    Tests software and hardware in a lab under supervision to identify issues; partner with the system team to develop testing specifications; works with team members to validate software or hardware against specifications; tests accuracy, reliability, performance, power, and robustness of design using a defined test plan; present basic data analysis findings.
•    Uses appropriate tools to conduct basic analyses of software or hardware design with minimal supervision.
•    Works under supervision to program small portions of a feature; seeks to understand how algorithms operate and implement algorithms on chips.
•    Executes tasks and solves straightforward issues related to the engineering and management of machine learning data with some guidance from more experienced engineers.
•    Develops or adapts machine learning algorithms, models, or frameworks aligned with product proposals or roadmaps with some guidance from more experienced engineers.
•    Plans and executes experiments to train and evaluate machine learning algorithms or models with some guidance from more experienced engineers.
•    Participates in technical conversations and documentation (e.g., schematics, FDD, HLDR); escalates basic technical issues to an appropriate contact (e.g., project lead, colleagues).
