Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior z/OS Specialist responsible for designing and maintaining the operating environment critical to supporting the firm's z-platform computing needs. This role involves ensuring the stability, performance, and resilience of our z/OS environment through expert management and troubleshooting. Responsibilities include designing, maintaining, and optimizing z/OS, managing catalogs, overseeing hardware configurations, installing and supporting software, developing test plans, and providing on-call support.
Good To Have:
  • Familiarity with z/OSMF, REST APIs, Kafka, LinuxOne, Ansible, Python, and emerging z/OS technologies.
  • Assembler skills for user modifications and dump analysis.
Must Have:
  • Design, maintain, and optimize the z/OS operating environment to meet firm requirements.
  • Manage z/OS catalogs and perform complex troubleshooting to resolve production issues.
  • Oversee hardware and HCD configurations.
  • Install and support z/OS and ISV software.
  • Develop and execute testing plans to validate software functionality, robustness, and performance.
  • Support weekend and on-call rotations to ensure uninterrupted system availability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement new technologies and upgrades.
  • Expert knowledge of z/OS internals and USS/OMVS.
  • Strong experience with z/OS catalog management and HCD.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting under high-pressure scenarios such as production outages.
  • 10 years of hands-on experience with z/OS, ISV software installation, and support.
  • REXX scripting skills.
  • Strong self-motivation with the ability to work independently.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Demonstrated investigative and problem-solving capabilities with innovative thinking.

Additional Information*

The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Montreal is CAD $85k – CAD $95k/year & benefits (see below).
