Job Description

Onward Search is seeking an AI Innovation Manager to help one of our top agency clients operationalize the future of creative work with AI. In this role, you’ll serve as the connective tissue between strategy, creativity, and emerging technologies—owning the implementation and adoption of AI across teams. You’ll work directly with executive leadership to research, pilot, and scale innovative tools that enhance creative workflows, elevate storytelling, and drive business value. This is a hands-on, front-of-house position for a builder who understands both the possibilities of AI and the realities of agency life.

Must Have:
  • Lead AI Tool Adoption: Manage the agency’s growing AI stack, driving hands-on onboarding, training, and enablement.
  • Design and Deploy Workflows: Collaborate to embed AI into projects, boosting speed, scale, and storytelling potential.
  • Partner with Leadership: Work with Chief Creative & Innovation Officer to identify new technologies, run pilots, and deliver business cases.
  • Maintain a Strategic Tech Stack: Build and maintain a centralized knowledge base of tools, vendors, pilots, and learnings.
  • Champion Human-Centered AI: Act as the agency’s expert on responsible AI use, advocating for augmentation over automation.
  • Mentor Innovation Talent: Manage and grow the Innovation Coordinator, ensuring alignment and providing development support.
  • 5+ years of experience in creative technology, digital innovation, or AI enablement.
  • Strong working knowledge of AI tools like ChatGPT, Midjourney, Runway, Sora, Firefly, ElevenLabs, and prompt engineering best practices.
  • Experience operationalizing tech adoption—training teams, designing workflows, and measuring results.
  • Strong documentation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead AI Tool Adoption: Manage the agency’s growing AI stack—including text, image, and video generation platforms—while driving hands-on onboarding, training, and enablement across teams.
  • Design and Deploy Workflows: Collaborate with creative, strategy, production, and new business teams to embed AI into real projects—boosting speed, scale, and storytelling potential.
  • Partner with Leadership: Work alongside the Chief Creative & Innovation Officer to identify new technologies, run pilots, and deliver business cases that support enterprise-wide innovation.
  • Maintain a Strategic Tech Stack: Build and maintain a centralized, ever-evolving knowledge base of tools, vendors, pilots, and learnings to future-proof the agency’s approach to emerging tech.
  • Champion Human-Centered AI: Act as the agency’s go-to expert on responsible AI use—advocating for augmentation over automation and ensuring creative voices stay at the center.
  • Mentor Innovation Talent: Manage and grow the Innovation Coordinator, ensuring alignment with day-to-day initiatives while providing coaching and development support.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in creative technology, digital innovation, or AI enablement—ideally within an agency, studio, or forward-thinking brand.
  • Strong working knowledge of AI tools like ChatGPT, Midjourney, Runway, Sora, Firefly, ElevenLabs, and prompt engineering best practices.
  • Experience operationalizing tech adoption—training teams, designing workflows, and measuring results.
  • Exposure to creative production, marketing strategy, or product design is a major plus.
  • Background in scripting, APIs, or low-code/no-code tools is a bonus—but not required.
  • Strong documentation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
