About the job:
Frima Studio is seeking a Senior Technical Artist with a focus on VFX to join their team. This role will play a key part in optimizing the studio's Technical Art capabilities. Responsibilities include analyzing memory and performance issues, creating efficient shaders and materials, developing scripts and tools, collaborating with programmers, and seeking innovative ways to enhance game quality.
Must have:

Frima est à la recherche d’un.e Artiste technique sénior orienté VFX afin d’aider son équipe d’art technique à monter de niveau.

Ce à quoi ressembleront tes semaines :
 
  • Analyse des problèmes de mémoire et de performance tout au long du projet;
  • Création des shaders ou des matériaux efficaces pour texturer les personnages, les environnements ou les effets spéciaux;
  • Création et maintien des scripts ou des outils que les artistes utilisent dans l’engin de jeu Unreal ou dans les logiciels 3D;
  • Collaboration étroite avec les programmeurs pour développer de nouvelles fonctionnalités dans les jeux;
  • Collaboration avec les producteurs et les directeurs de façon proactive pour trouver des solutions aux problèmes d’efficacité;
  • En constante recherche de nouvelles percées pour améliorer la qualité des jeux.
 
Ce que nous recherchons :
 
  • Baccalauréat en arts, informatique, 3D ou équivalent;
  • Minimum de dix (10) années d’expérience dans l’industrie du jeu vidéo;
  • Connaissances avancées des contraintes du jeu vidéo, gestion de la performance (Mémoire, GPU, CPU) et VFX;
  • Connaissances sur l’engin de jeux Unreal;
  • Connaissances de l’un des langages de scripting suivant: Python, C++, MEL, et/ou HLSL;
  • Disponible pour voyager à l’international au besoin.
  • Des habiletés en anglais sont requises pour la réalisation du travail comme nous collaborons avec des partenaires anglophones.

What your weeks are going to look like:
 
  • Analysis of memory and performance problems throughout the project;
  • Creation of effective shaders or materials for texturing characters, environments or special effects;
  • Creation and maintenance of scripts or tools that artists use in the Unreal game engine or 3D software;
  • Working closely with programmers to develop new features for games;
  • Working proactively with producers and directors to find solutions to efficiency problems;
  • Constantly seeking new breakthroughs to improve game quality.
 
What we're looking for :
 
  • Bachelor's degree in art, computer science, 3D or equivalent;
  • Minimum of ten (10) years' experience in the video game industry;
  • Advanced knowledge of video game constraints, performance management (Memory, GPU, CPU) and VFX;
  • Knowledge of the Unreal game engine;
  • Knowledge of one of the following scripting languages: Python, C++, MEL, and/or HLSL;
  • Available to travel internationally as needed.
  • English skills are required as we work with English-speaking partners.
