Job Description

The Building Facilities Maintenance Technician role involves performing maintenance and repairs in various skilled areas, including plumbing, carpentry, painting, electrical repairs, and machine servicing. Responsibilities include changing light bulbs, installing paper dispensers, changing filters, minor decorative maintenance, and assisting skilled trade workers. The role requires examining mechanical equipment, diagnosing issues, and repairing or replacing broken parts. The position may involve working in an indoor setting, with varied schedules that may include evenings, holidays, weekends, and extended hours. The candidate will be required to wear protective clothing and/or Personal Protective Equipment and the ability to lift up to 35 pounds frequently and occasionally lift/move 40 pounds or more.
Must have:
  • Lock Out, Tag Out experience is required.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • 2-5 years of job-related experience
  • Valid Driver’s License Required
Good to have:
  • License/certifications for specific city and state licenses preferred
  • Basic computer skills preferred (Microsoft Office, Outlook/e-mail)

Perform maintenance service or repairs in one or more skilled areas, including minor plumbing, carpentry, painting and plastering, machine servicing, electrical repairs or installations, or vehicle servicing. Lock Out, Tag Out experience is required.
  • Performs tasks such as but not limited to changing light bulbs, installing paper dispenser units, changing filters, changing locks on doors, minor decorative maintenance and other tasks not requiring a licensed skilled trades person or journeyman.
  • Cleans and lubricates parts.
  • Assists skilled trade workers in one or more areas performing specific or standard duties to learn new skills as required for advancement and certification.
  • May be required to utilize basic cleaning and other chemicals.
  • Examines mechanical equipment to diagnose trouble.
  • Disassembles machines and repairs or replaces broken parts.
  • Adjusts functional parts of mechanical devices as necessary.
  • May repair and maintain machinery and mechanical equipment, such as motors, pumps, conveyors, belts, fans, air conditioners, etc.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • 2-5 years of job-related experience
  • License/certifications for specific city and state licenses preferred
  • Valid Driver’s License Required
  • Basic computer skills preferred (Microsoft Office, Outlook/e-mail)
Working Conditions/Physical Effort:
  • Generally, in an indoor setting, may participate in outside activities and events
  • Schedule may vary to include evenings, holidays, weekends and extended hours as business needs dictates.
  • Noise level in working environment is moderate to loud
  • Wear protective clothing and/or Personal Protective Equipment required by the work environment or governmental regulations as specified for role
  • May involve frequent interruptions that are unpredictable and imposed or controlled by others.
  • Use of close vision, distance and peripheral vision.
  • Dept perception and the ability to adjust focus, with or without corrective lenses.
  • Significant walking along with other means of mobility
  • Ability to work in a standing position or long periods of time (up to 8 hours).
  • Ability to reach, bend, stoop, push and/or pull, and frequently lift to 35 pounds and occasionally lift/move 40 pounds or more.
