Job Description

As a Category Manager, you will lead commodities and collaborate to define and implement bioMerieux’s Purchasing Strategies globally, ensuring local activities align with these strategies. You will manage global suppliers, master category cost modeling, and support manufacturing projects. The role involves performing risk analysis, mitigating supply risks, ensuring business continuity, and guaranteeing compliance with global purchasing processes and regulations.

  • Manage Global Suppliers (including Tier2 and Tier3 when needed): contracts, negotiation, performance review.
  • Master Categories in terms of cost modeling, RFQ, benchmarks, market trends.
  • Define, implement, and manage the Supplier Panel.
  • Manage local suppliers for Instruments Commodities, ensuring contract compliance and performance.
  • Bring Purchasing support to Manufacturing projects and lead Purchasing voice within cross functional Teams.
  • Facilitate Local Instrument Purchasing activities: KPIs, key meetings preparation, forecast and budget.
  • Perform Purchasing risk analysis, mitigate Supply risks and ensure business continuity.
  • Support Purchasing Roadmap deployment: Continuous Improvement, Digitalization, Harmonization, CSR.
  • Guarantee compliance to Global Purchasing process and procedures, local regulations, and internal controls.
  • Bachelor's Degree with 5+ years of experience in purchasing or procurement.

Description

As a Category Manager you will be responsible for leading commodities and collaborating with other Purchasing Category Managers / Purchasing Management / internal stakeholders to define and implement bioMerieux’s Purchasing Strategies for his/her assigned commodities, accountable for their deployment across the company, within a Global and international organization.

Main Accountabilities:

  • Ensures that any local activity is conducted in accordance with the Commodity Strategy and Global Purchasing Roadmap. Brings Purchasing support and added values to operations, at site/region level. Facilitate the Local Packaging Purchasing activities.
  • Meets Global Purchasing Objectives: Operational Competitiveness, Risk Mitigation, CSR Engagement and Innovation & Long-Term growth.
  • Identifies and integrates new suppliers further to Instrument transfers to St Louis facility from other bioMerieux facilities or external vendors. Sets up the relationship in accordance with Global Purchasing Guidelines and in collaboration with the former site or vendor
  • Global role for given Commodities or sub-Commodities:
  • Designs, develops and communicates the Purchasing Category Strategies in accordance with the Corporate priorities and Business perspective. Drives the implementation across the Company, worldwide.
  • Manages Global Suppliers (including Tier2 and Tier3 when needed) within his/her scope: contracts, prepares and leads negotiation, performance review (includes also the follow up of corrective action plans and continuous improvement plans).
  • Masters Categories in terms of cost modeling, RFQ, benchmarks, market trends for the Products offering. Acts accordingly, on a proactive manner.
  • Defines, implements, and manages the Supplier Panel.
  • Local (US) role for Instruments Commodities:
  • Manages the local suppliers. Ensures compliance of contracts, manages Supplier’s performance.
  • Brings Purchasing support to Manufacturing projects. Identifies, promotes and drives Purchasing added values within operational topics. Leads Purchasing voice within cross functional Teams.
  • Facilitates the Local Instrument Purchasing activities: KPIs, key meetings preparation, forecast and budget.
  • Performs Purchasing risk analysis, mitigates Supply risks and ensures business continuity.
  • Generic role
  • Supports Purchasing Roadmap deployment: Continuous Improvement, Digitalization, Harmonization amongst sites and categories, CSR, etc.
  • Guaranties compliance to Global Purchasing process and procedures, local regulations, and internal controls, on his/her scope.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree with 5+ years of experience in purchasing or procurement
