The Creative Director, Consumer Products and Experiences at Moonbug Entertainment will lead the creative vision for all consumer products, ensuring brand consistency across assets and licensed products. Responsibilities include developing creative strategies, overseeing brand guidelines, collaborating with cross-functional teams (Franchise, Content Production, Marketing, Licensing, Retail), developing visual storytelling frameworks, forecasting trends, shaping consumer experiences (live events, etc.), and fostering team innovation. The role requires strong leadership, collaboration, and design skills, along with a deep understanding of the children's entertainment market.

This role will report ON-SITE in our Los Angeles Office 5 days a week. 

The Role

We are excited to offer an opportunity for a Creative Director to join our Consumer Products & Experiences team in Los Angeles, CA. Reporting to the Global Managing Director of Consumer Products & Experiences, this role will oversee the creative direction for all Moonbug franchise properties within the consumer products portfolio, ensuring their unique brand DNA is consistently represented across all creative assets and licensed products.

The Creative Director will lead the overarching creative strategy for Moonbug's global franchises, encompassing everything from product style guides to immersive experiences. This role ensures that every touchpoint reflects the core values of each franchise and resonates with its audience. Success in this role requires close collaboration with internal franchise teams, content creators, and external partners to maintain brand consistency while fostering creative growth and innovation.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for storytelling through visual design and brand expression, paired with a sharp eye for product development. They should be highly creative and possess a strategic mindset, capable of shaping the future of beloved children’s entertainment properties while remaining true to the brand’s mission.

Key Responsibilities

Creative Direction & Strategy: Lead the creative vision for Moonbug's franchises under the consumer products umbrella, ensuring alignment with the core values and mission of each IP. Develop creative strategies that translate the heart of the franchise into compelling visual storytelling across all consumer touch points.

Brand Identity & Style Guide Leadership: Oversee the creation and evolution of the brand vision guidelines and style guides for all franchises (e.g., CoComelon, Blippi, Little Baby Bum). Ensure consistency across content, merchandising, marketing, and experiences while allowing for creative innovation.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with key cross-functional teams—including Franchise, Content Production, Marketing, Licensing, and Retail—to ensure that the consumer products creative strategy ladders up to the overall franchise approach and drives brand consistency globally.

Franchise Storytelling: Develop and nurture visual storytelling frameworks that deepen audience engagement across all platforms, including consumer products, live events, and promotional materials.


Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Partner closely with franchise management, production teams, and marketing to ensure that creative direction is embedded in all aspects of the franchise. Collaborate on the development of integrated brand experiences that resonate with global audiences.

Trend Forecasting & Market Insight: Stay at the forefront of cultural and design trends, leveraging insights to innovate and refresh franchise creative strategies, ensuring Moonbug’s IP remains relevant and compelling across consumer products and licensed merchandise.

Creative Visionary for Experiences: Shape the future of Moonbug’s consumer-facing experiences, from live events to immersive brand moments, ensuring they align with the creative direction of each IP and deliver engaging, emotionally resonant experiences.

Innovation & Growth: Identify new opportunities to expand the reach and impact of Moonbug’s franchises, fostering creative experimentation that enhances the brand's global appeal.

Mentorship & Team Leadership: Lead and inspire a talented creative team while fostering a collaborative and innovative culture. Guide the team to deliver high-quality creative output that aligns with Moonbug’s brand values and objectives. Collaborate closely with the Product Development team to ensure best-in-class products are brought to market.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Design, Fine Arts, or a related field. An advanced degree is a plus.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in creative leadership roles within entertainment or media, with a focus on developing and maintaining brand identities.
  • Proven experience in developing and executing global style guides and creative assets for media or entertainment brands.
  • Exceptional leadership and collaboration skills, with experience working closely with content creators, marketing, production, and external stakeholders.
  • Strong knowledge of global market trends, consumer behavior, and visual storytelling innovations.
  • A keen eye for design with the ability to balance creative vision with strategic brand goals.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and organizational skills.
