Job Description

The Cybersecurity Systems Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to establish architecture content and develop solutions. Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with JSIG/RMF Continuous Monitoring tools and processes. The engineer will perform system-level analyses, define and allocate functional requirements, and recommend system enhancements. The role also involves serving as a Cyber Security engineer (ISSE) and supporting high-level technical expertise. This position requires taking ownership of complex problems and driving innovative solutions in a collaborative environment.
Must have:
  • Experience with Systems Engineering practices.
  • Experience with Risk Management Framework (RMF) and NIST800-53
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Active DoD Secret or higher clearance.
Good to have:
  • Experience in air-gapped environments
  • Experience using compliance and vulnerability assessment tools.
  • Basic scripting for automation (Bash/Powershell)
  • Networking experience – TCP/IP, DNS, NetBIOS, switching, firewalls

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

We are currently seeking an ambitious systems engineering professional to help us continue our mission of excellence. Technical responsibilities include: 

  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to establish architecture content and develop solutions that achieve customer needs.   

  • Have fundamental knowledge of Systems Engineering practices, network technologies, system development life cycles and methodologies, and insight into information technology infrastructure management/monitoring and applications  

  • Provide analysis, design, development, implementation and security assessments to ensure compliance with JSIG/RMF Continuous Monitoring tools and processes.  

  • Perform system-level analyses, determine and undertake necessary trade studies, define and allocate the functional requirements to subsystem. 

  • Ensure all program requirements are met, program risks are identified and mitigated, and company processes are followed. 

  • Recommend and implement system enhancements that will improve the performance, reliability, and security of the system including installing, upgrading, monitoring, problem resolution, and configuration  

  • Serve as a Cyber Security engineer (ISSE) supporting high-level technical and practical expertise 

Qualifications and Education Requirements 

  • BS in Electrical Engineering, or other technical field or equivalent education and work experience 

  • Minimum of 8 years systems experience 

  • Experience supporting military or defense programs. 

  • Proven experience with Risk Management Framework (RMF) and NIST800-53  

  • Experience in developing and maintaining security documentation, including SSPs, SARs, and POA&Ms  

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management. 

  • Strong critical thinking and logical reasoning skills with the ability to solve issues and predict potential programmatic and technical risks. 

  • Proven track record of building relationships, fostering collaboration and working cross-functionally with multidisciplinary teams. 

  • Demonstrated experience interpreting customer needs into achievable requirements or capabilities. 

  • Must have an active DoD Secret or higher clearance that has been granted or renewed in the last 5 years. 

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain Special Program Access prior to the start of employment. 

  • Flexibility to support occasional overtime, weekend work, shift work and site travel (CONUS) 

  • Due to U.S. Government contract requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for this role.  

Preferred Skills 

  • Experience working in air-gapped, classified, or highly secure environments with no direct internet access 

  • Experience using compliance and vulnerability assessment tools, including ACAS, Tenable, Nessus, SCAP, or HBSS 

  • Monitoring and correlating data (e.g., logs, events, activity, etc.) from a variety of sources (e.g., Splunk, ELA, ePO, ESS, ACAS, etc.) to identify and mitigate threats, vulnerabilities and non-compliance. 

  • Basic scripting for automation (Bash/Powershell) 

  • Networking experience – TCP/IP, DNS, NetBIOS, switching, firewalls 

  • Experience in Open Mission Systems/Universal Command and Control Interface (OMS/UCI). 

  • Familiarity with open system architectures (ex: ASPN, CMOSS, PNTOS, JADC2). 

  • Working knowledge of industry standards such as MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-704, for airworthiness, ARINC and RTCA standards are preferred. 

  • Current Special Access Program (SAP) access. 

Salary Range: $130,000 - $160,300
