Job Description

People Can Fly, a major AAA games development studio with over 20 years of experience, is seeking a Data Engineer. This role involves designing, developing, and maintaining efficient data pipelines and ETL processes, collaborating with stakeholders, and supporting data analysis. The successful candidate will contribute to continuous improvement of software engineering practices within an exciting, multinational environment, working on new generation action games for a global gaming community.
Must have:
  • Design, develop, and maintain efficient data pipelines and ETL processes.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand and deliver on data requirements.
  • Support data analysis and reporting needs across various teams.
  • Learn and apply game development and software engineering skills.
  • Contribute actively to continuous improvement of software engineering practices.
  • Proven experience in data engineering and large-scale data processing.
  • Proficiency in building ETL processes, data pipelines, and database systems.
  • Programming skills in Python and SQL.
  • Practical knowledge of big data technologies and cloud platforms (especially AWS).
  • Strong ability to autonomously gather and clarify requirements.
  • Hands-on experience with Databricks.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Curiosity and eagerness to learn new technologies and tools.
  • Excellent collaboration and teamwork skills.
Good to have:
  • Expertise in Apache Spark, Apache Hadoop, or Apache Flink.
  • Proficiency with Apache Kafka, Apache Samza, or AWS Kinesis.
  • Knowledge of distributed file systems (e.g., HDFS) and cloud-based storage solutions (e.g., S3).
  • Experience with Apache Airflow or Luigi.
  • Proficiency in modeling both structured and unstructured data.
  • Experience in game development (Unreal/Unity/C#).
  • Knowledge of software engineering in other domains (Web, Automation).

Qualifications

Required Technical Skills

  • Proven experience in data engineering and large-scale data processing.
  • Proficiency in building ETL processes, data pipelines, and database systems.
  • Programming skills in Python and SQL.
  • Practical knowledge of big data technologies and cloud platforms (especially AWS).
  • Strong ability to autonomously gather and clarify requirements.
  • Hands-on experience with Databricks.

Key Technologies (good to know)

  • Distributed Computing Frameworks: Expertise in Apache Spark, Apache Hadoop, or Apache Flink.
  • Data Streaming: Proficiency with Apache Kafka, Apache Samza, or AWS Kinesis.
  • Big Data Storage: Knowledge of distributed file systems (e.g., HDFS) and cloud-based storage solutions (e.g., S3).
  • Data Pipeline Orchestration: Experience with Apache Airflow or Luigi.
  • Data Modeling: Proficiency in modeling both structured and unstructured data.

Required Soft Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Nice to Have
