How we LEAD:
Universal Music Group is seeking an experienced Data Governance Analyst, particularly in an environment utilizing Google BigQuery to join our Global Data Governance team.
The Analyst will work across our Data Governance team and UMG business teams playing a critical role in establishing and maintaining the organization's data management best practices. In essence, the Analyst acts as a bridge between business needs and technical solutions, ensuring that data is used effectively and responsibly across the organization.
You will support Data Governance operations, as well as the establishment and integration of measures to drive our audit compliance objectives. In addition, you will be responsible for supporting our data management disciplines across UMG's ecosystems
How you'll CREATE:
- Create, institutionalize, and promote data management best practices with other data citizens in multiple business units and departments throughout Universal Music Group.
- Leverage BigQuery's built-in data governance features and integrate with other Google Cloud services like Dataplex for comprehensive data governance across diverse data sources.
- Conduct our user access reviews (UARs), and audit individuals' access rights are appropriate for their roles.
- Work with stakeholders to manage datasets, remove duplicate access and cleanup individual access memberships.
- Recommend and enable a specific Identity and Access Management (IAM) policy across our organization’s Google Cloud projects.
- Act as the liaison and executor, ensuring the data owner's policy decisions are properly implemented for the specific datasets.
- This role is responsible for updating critical data identification, tagging, and data lineage.
- Facilitating the development of data catalogs and promoting the use of standardized data definitions and glossaries.
- Maintaining and enforcing the data governance frameworks, guidelines, and publications across the organization. (Including drafting policies, standards, and runbooks.)
- Must be comfortable facilitating workshops, and discovery sessions involving stakeholders across multiple disciplines.
- Develop and publish data governance user friendly training materials to promote data literacy across the organization.
- Apply creative problem-solving skills to data governance efforts and identifies alternative solutions where needed.
Bring your VIBE:
- 3 minimum years of direct experience in data governance and/or data management roles.
- Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and BigQuery's data governance features.
- Advanced hands-on SQL skills, particularly with BigQuery-specific syntax and functions.
- Experience with Identity and Access Management (IAM) concepts.
- Must be familiar with Attribute-Based Access Control (ABAC) Access models (or similar).
- Demonstrable experience in creating and managing data governance artifacts.
- Experience with governance technologies such as Google Dataplex or similar Catalogs.
- Create compelling data visualizations, dashboards, and reports using tools like Looker a plus.
- Experience with other Google Cloud Platform services (e.g., Cloud Storage, Cloud Functions, Composer/Airflow) a plus.
- Person must be flexible, with an ability to work in an independent, proactive manner, as well as part of a team.
- Bachelor's Degree minimum education in Computer Science, Information Management, Data Science, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Experience in the Music Industry or entertainment industry a plus.
