Engineering Manager - Migrations & Registrations

We build simple yet innovative consumer products and developer APIs that shape how everybody interacts with money and the financial system.

Access is Plaid’s distribution engine. The role is critical to making self-service tools for customers and institutions to detect and act on quality issues. This will increase the quality of connections between customers and institutions for their end users. Ultimately, customers should get the best integration experiences while reducing support burden and improving reliability.

We are responsible for delivering trusted, transparent integration experiences and building tools that reduce support burden while improving the reliability of Plaid’s connections with financial institutions. This includes developing and maintaining core surfaces such as institution registration, developer dashboards, disconnect webhooks, and support APIs. Our mandate extends beyond building infrastructure—we empower external partners and customers to manage their integration experience more effectively.

We manage both operational workflows and developer-facing products, while also shaping customer-facing solutions. By building technologies that automatically detect and respond to changes at financial institutions, we ensure users are seamlessly transitioned to more secure and reliable APIs. In parallel, we design scalable self-service and diagnostic tools that reduce reliance on manual support. Ultimately, we safeguard connection quality, strengthen reliability, and ensure customers consistently engage with their institutions through secure, efficient pathways.

Responsibilities

• Lead the MRP team as we expand the team's focus to more surface areas where Plaid's customers interact with us regarding access.
• Ensure technical execution quality, delivery velocity, and team health.
• Partner cross-functionally with Product and Partnerships to align on the roadmap and support migrations.
• Evolve team processes and infrastructure to support rapid iteration without sacrificing reliability.
• Grow and mentor a high-performing engineering team. Actively participate in roadmap planning, design reviews, and hands-on technical work when needed.
• Drive accountability for longtail access uptime, reliability, and system observability. Products: New access experience, Institution Insights, and Support Experience.
• Migrations of items/customers from the old extractor to the new extractors.
• Registration of customers with banks.

Qualifications

• Prior full-stack product experience. Strong product intuition and the ability to work across ambiguous problem spaces.
• Prior high-scale systems experience, strong systems thinking, and ability to evaluate architectural tradeoffs.
• Demonstrated experience leading high-performing engineering teams.
• Track record of mentoring engineers and growing technical leaders.
• Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Target base salary for this role is between $214,800 and $366,000 per year. Additional compensation in the form of equity and/or commission is dependent on the position offered. Plaid provides a comprehensive benefit plan, including medical, dental, vision, and 401(k). Pay is based on factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience and skillset, and location.
