Job Description

Tesla's Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg seeks an Equipment Engineer for its battery cell production. Responsibilities include ensuring smooth operation of manufacturing equipment (lifts, machinery, jigs, etc.), optimizing efficiency and performance, troubleshooting and repairing machines, coordinating with other teams, and participating in construction and commissioning. The role requires experience in high-volume automated production, proficiency in CAD (SolidWorks, CATIA preferred), mechanical assembly, and knowledge of automated equipment systems (vision, material handling, PLC, HMI). Continuous improvement and problem-solving are key aspects of this position.
Must have:
  • BS in Engineering (Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics)
  • Experience in automated production
  • Proficiency in CAD (SolidWorks, Catia)
  • Mechanical assembly experience
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Good to have:
  • Experience with roll-to-roll processes
  • Knowledge of PLC, HMI, vision systems
  • Project management experience

What You’ll Do

·         Ensuring smooth production operation of the manufacturing equipment for a specific production segment; lift assists, roll-to-roll machininery, jig, fixtures, trolleys, etc.

·         Responsible for the optimization of the efficiency as well as performance level

·         Monitoring and continuous optimization of processes

·         Responsible for troubleshooting, machine repairs and sustainable problem solving

·         Coordination with other process, maintenance, manufacturing facilities, mechanical, electrical and support disciplines

·         Participate in on-field construction and commissioning activities by supporting manufacturing engineering team

·         Project management for the optimization of production processes and production facilities

What You’ll Bring

·         BS Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Mechatronics. Alternatively, the equivalent in experience and evidence of exceptional ability.

·         Experience in a technology-based industry, where automated production techniques are utilized e.g. packaging, filling, food, paper, roll to roll processes, printing, automotive, cell, clean & dry room, powder mixing, mixing, chemicals 

·         Operations experience working in high-volume production processes

·         Experience improving automated manufacturing equipment

·         Proficiency designing mechanical equipment, fixtures and tooling in CAD (Solid works, Catia is a plus)

·         Proficiency in mechanical assembly (press fits, fastener selection)

·         Experience introducing new equipment and new processes into a production environment

·         Knowledge of automated equipment systems and tools - vision, material handling, PLC, HMI, etc.

·         Well organized with meticulous attention to detail

·         Mastery of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc (MS Office suite)

·         English is a must
