Job Description

The Field Service & Technical Advisor will be responsible for executing business objectives and contributing to short-term and long-term goals. Responsibilities include providing technical expertise to railroad employees and management, coordinating key programs and procedures, communicating with customers and management, ensuring compliance with regulations, and establishing production plans. The role requires a Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline with 3 years of experience, or equivalent experience, and the ability to work in a diverse and inclusive environment.

Who will you be working with?
The Field Service & Technical Advisor will be responsible to develop practical and innovative ways to identify and meet goals


How will you make a difference? 
In this role, you will be responsible for work that is less defined in scope, have the understanding and experience to execute business objectives, and have the ability to effect short term and some long-term business goals.

What do we want to know about you? 

  • Bachelors’ Degree in a Technical discipline from an accredited College or University (or a High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of Operations or Military experience, OR Associate’s Degree in Technical discipline with a minimum of 2 years professional work experience)

  • Minimum of 3 years of Operations or Engineering experience

  • Wabtec Level I Certification


What will your typical day look like? 

  • Provide technical expertise to railroad employees and management as well as Wabtec employees, including troubleshooting, material handling, tooling, safety procedures, and contract requirement clarification; Provide training / mentorship to customer and Wabtec employees;

  • Coordinate and provide instruction on key programs and procedures

  • Provide clear communication to customer employees, customer management and Wabtec management on work to be performed, equipment status, productivity, and process improvements, and liaison with other departments as necessary;

  • Work with customer employees and management to promote, maintain, and drive continuous improvement in safe work practices while monitoring productivity, quality assurance, and adherence to contract requirements

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, OSHA work practices, and industry / site specific work rules

  • Make risk assessments balancing customer requests with Wabtec requirements 

  • Establish production plan for labor, material, and logistics

  • Work with various software systems to manage material, labor plans, and other systemic requirements

  • You may also be asked to perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary.
