Marvell is seeking a Senior Staff Engineer for their Hardware & Silicon Validation team. This role involves designing and developing test platforms for validating multi-core Arm-based Network processors and custom ASICs used in communication infrastructure. Responsibilities include functional, electrical, and system stress validation, as well as developing software, test plans, and utilities for customer platforms. The engineer will develop and maintain bare-metal or RTOS-based embedded test code in C/C++ to control and validate high-speed ASIC SoCs, work with pre-silicon emulation and post-silicon environments, and demonstrate familiarity with ARM M/R/A series cores and RISC-V architectures. Collaboration with design and architecture teams for documentation is also key.
Must have:
  • Develop bare-metal/RTOS embedded test code in C/C++
  • Work with emulation (FPGA, Zebu) and post-silicon environments
  • Familiarity with ARM and RISC-V architectures
  • Write drivers under Linux for Marvell controllers
  • Collaborate with design teams for documentation
  • Experience in Firmware Development (Bare Metal/Linux)
  • Strong understanding of validation concepts and SoC architecture
  • Proficient in C/C++, assembly, 64-bit ARM CPU architecture
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills

The Marvell post silicon validation group designs and develops test platforms for validating multi-core Arm-based Network processors and custom ASIC’s, used in many communication infrastructure applications such as 5G base stations, hard disk drive (HDD), Fiber Channel (FC), solid‐state drive (SSD), NICs, Data Center and Cloud Computing platforms. As a member of the Post-Silicon Validation team, you will have the opportunity to contribute to several areas of product development and validation including functional, electrical, and system stress. Additional contribution opportunities include the development of SW, test plans, and utilities to enable customer platforms. The Post-Silicon Validation team develops solutions and validates a range of IO interfaces and functions on multi-core ARM processors including DDR5, Ethernet, RFOE, PCIe, USB, eMMC, and more.

What You Can Expect

  • Develop and maintain bare-metal or RTOS-based embedded test code in C/C++ to control and validate high-speed ASIC SoCs across various product lines.
  • Work with custom evaluation systems in both pre-silicon emulation platforms (e.g., FPGA, Zebu) and post-silicon environments.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with the architecture of ARM M/R/A series cores and RISC-V, including (but not limited to): Exception models, MPU/MMU,CoreSight, GIC/VIC/NVIC, JTAG, PMU, SMP
  • Write bare-metal or user space drivers under Linux tailored to Marvell’s controllers and high-speed I/O interfaces supporting PCIe and low-speed I/O interfaces such as I2C, USB, SMBus, SPI, etc.
  • Collaborate with design and architecture teams to produce application notes, reference firmware, software libraries, and other technical documentation for new and existing SoC features.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, with 5–10 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Master’s Degree and/or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, with 3–5 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Experience in Firmware Development under Bare Metal/Linux Environment and Debugging on SoCs for embedded Applications
  • Strong understanding of validation concepts and SoC architecture
  • Proficient in C/C++ , assembly , 64-bit ARM CPU architecture
  • Experience in interfaces like NAND/PCIe/NVMe/DDR is a plus
  • Familiarity with hardware equipment such as protocol analyzers, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills to resolve silicon issues and provide technical/debug support to internal or external customers

Expected Base Pay Range (USD)

121,400 - 181,800, $ per annum

The successful candidate’s starting base pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location and market conditions. The expected base pay range for this role may be modified based on market conditions.
