The HR Manager will provide all facets of HR management for 4 manufacturing facilities in the Ohio/Pennsylvania area, one of which is unionized. This role will be critical in working across the sites and more broadly across the Components Organization and Wabtec HR to proactively identify and execute on organizational priorities and drive culture change. This role will be based at our Schaefer Equipment manufacturing plant in Warren, OH and is required to be on-site 5 days a week in a manufacturing setting. They will be responsible for fostering a positive and productive work environment, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, and supporting the company's overall business objectives.
Must have:
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college
  • At least 3 additional years of experience in a variety of Human Resource positions both staff and client based
  • Serve as active business partner for multiple operating entities
  • Provide guidance and support for full suite of HR functions
  • Partner with business management to develop appropriate human resource plans
  • Oversee day-to-day labor relations for the sites
  • Serve as the HR Leader for the sites and partner with manager to drive organization-wide initiatives
  • Provide coaching, advice, council, and support for leadership, managers, employees and peers
  • Act as an impartial advocate to ensure fair and equitable treatment
Good to have:
  • Prior labor relations experience: including union relations, contract negotiations and grievance resolution
  • Prior HR Business partnership experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college
  • At least 3 additional years of experience in a variety of Human Resource positions both staff and client based
  • Prior labor relations experience: including union relations, contract negotiations and grievance resolution strongly preferred
  • Prior HR Business partnership experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment strongly preferred
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Ability to influence & engage at all levels of the business
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems
  • Demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects and drive change
  • Strong coaching skills

What will your typical day look like?

This role will be based at our Schaefer Equipment manufacturing plant in Warren, OH and is required to be on-site 5 days a week in a manufacturing setting, and to have strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills. They will be responsible for fostering a positive and productive work environment, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, and supporting the company's overall business objectives. The essential responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Serve as active business partner for multiple operating entities. Provide guidance and support for full suite of HR functions, including talent management, performance management, organizational change, policy and process implementation, employee relations, compensation & benefits, and facilitating team performance.
  • Partner with business management to develop appropriate human resource plans in support of key business needs in a dynamic environment and develop / implement appropriate change management plans as required. Including recruiting, selection, as well as restructuring, and reduction of the workforce as needed.
  • Oversee day-to-day labor relations for the sites. Ensure alignment with Components and broader Wabtec labor relations strategy.
  • Serve as the HR Leader for the sites and partner with manager to drive organization-wide initiatives and engage with the plant leadership team to further HR and organizational objectives.
  • Provide coaching, advice, council, and support for leadership, managers, employees and peers.
  • Act as an impartial advocate to ensure that all individuals receive fair and equitable treatment.

What about the physical demands of the job?

  • Employee is regularly required to wear PPE in designated areas
  • Requires daily face-to-face interaction with employees in an office environment and production line.
  • Required to travel to sites on a consistent and sometimes unexpected frequency as needs arise. Multi-day/overnight visits may be required at times.

Additional Position Details:

This is a full-time onsite position, Monday through Friday. Remote work is not available, and relocation assistance is not provided.

You may also be asked to perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary.
