The HR Site Lead for Korea will join Illumina during a period of business expansion and evolution in the region. Reporting to the HRBP, APAC Commercial, SAGA and G&A, this role provides strategic HR consultative support, partnering with Global and APAC HR leadership and Commercial business leaders. The lead will ensure integrated HR services, develop best-in-class HR strategy, and drive operational excellence. This role focuses on diagnosing human capital needs, assuring attraction, development, and retention of top talent for the Korea Commercial organization's growth.

  • Support local HR business partnering activities in alignment with regional and global HRBPs.
  • Translate strategic and local operating plans into HR strategic and operational plans.

  • Identify competency, knowledge, and talent gaps; develop practices to fill them.
  • Support Compensation and Benefits to benchmark competitiveness of programs and practices.
  • Collaborate with broader HR team to coordinate and integrate support for the business.
  • Be a member of the regional APAC People & Support Care team.
  • Facilitate activities to set-up HR tools, processes, infrastructure for people growth.
  • Document and create necessary tools and templates; drive in-country HR compliance.
  • Facilitate onboarding of new hires and manage all aspects of the employee life cycle.
  • Attend to all local HR administrative tasks, partnering with Finance/Legal.
  • Be primary point of contact for all local HR activities and local employees.
  • Partner with business leaders and HR community to ensure timely, compliant HR services.
  • Troubleshoot issues and work with appropriate parties to drive resolution.
  • Collaborate with Talent Acquisition and Business to define position description and requirements.
  • At least 8 years of HR Generalist experience.
  • At least 3 years HRBP experience in a Commercial environment.
  • Demonstrated understanding and experience of local employment laws.
  • Relevant experience with start-up businesses; expertise with setting up new organizations.
  • Independent, result-oriented, and prepared to perform hands-on job.
  • Highly effective interpersonal skills to establish credibility with business leaders.
  • Excellent written and superior verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated strong management, leadership, coaching expertise.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills.

The HR Site Lead, Korea, will be joining Illumina at an exciting time as we continue to expand and evolve our business in Korea. Reporting to the HRBP, APAC Commercial, SAGA and G&A, the successful candidate will work closely with the Global and APAC HR leadership and the Commercial business leaders in supporting our Korea Commercial organization on its next phase of growth. The HR Site Lead, Korea, will provide strategic HR consultative support and forge a close partnership with all HR Center of Excellence (COE) partners to ensure integrated customer experience in delivering HR services. This role will lead in developing and delivering best in class Human Resources strategy and operational excellence. The incumbent will utilize extensive knowledge of the business to diagnose short-, and long-term local, regional, and cross-functional human capital needs and assure the attraction, development, and retention of top talent.

Position Responsibilities:

As HR Site Lead, this role will have responsibilities that encompasses significant components that are both strategic and operational in nature. The incumbent must be prepared to work independently and be hands-on to navigate within a matrix organization to accomplish the set business goals and objectives.

Key responsibilities may include:

HR Business Partnering

  • Support and work in alignment with regional and global HRBPs to support local HR business partnering activities
  • Translate strategic and local operating plans into HR strategic and operational plans.
  • Identify the organizational capabilities and talent pipeline required to execute the business strategy.
  • Develop staffing strategies and implementation plans and programs to identify and retain talent within and attract talent for the country.
  • Identify competency, knowledge and talent gaps and develop specific, effective, and timely practices to fill the gaps.
  • Support Compensation and Benefits to benchmark and assess the competitiveness of all programs and practices against relevant comparable companies, industries and markets for the country.
  • Collaborate and work with the broader HR team to coordinate and integrate support for the business.

People Support and Care (PS&C)

  • Be a member of the regional APAC People & Support Care team
  • Champion and facilitate the necessary activities to set-up required HR tools, processes, infrastructure to ensure successful growth of people in alignment with business growth
  • Document and create necessary tools and templates as needed and drive in-country HR compliance in alignment with global & regional PS&C practices
  • Facilitate onboarding of new hires and manage all aspects of the employee life cycle
  • Attend to all local HR administrative tasks including partnership with Finance/Legal as appropriate
  • Be accountable as the primary point of contact for all local HR activities and first point of contact for local employees
  • Partner with business leaders and the broader HR community to ensure HR services are being delivered timely and in a compliant manner
  • Trouble shoot issues and work with appropriate parties to drive resolution

Talent Acquisition

  • Collaborate with Talent Acquisition and Business to build understanding of business requirements and to map the role criteria, define position description and requirements

Position Requirements:

  • At least 8 years of HR Generalist experience with at least 3 years HRBP experience in a Commercial environment
  • Demonstrated understanding and experience of local employment laws
