Walt Disney Imagineering (WDI) is seeking an HVAC Inspector for their Germany team, specializing in cruise ship construction. This role involves overseeing HVAC system installation, ensuring compliance with regulations, and maintaining quality control. The inspector will conduct thorough inspections, document findings, and collaborate with various teams to ensure systems meet design specifications, safety requirements, and operational efficiency for new-build cruise ships.
Must have:
  • Conduct thorough inspections of HVAC systems at various stages of ship construction.
  • Verify installation aligns with approved plans, design drawings, and industry standards.
  • Ensure compliance with maritime and HVAC industry regulations.
  • Maintain detailed records of inspections, tests, and corrective actions.
  • Assess quality of HVAC system installations and identify deficiencies.
  • Ensure systems prevent air contamination and manage temperature/humidity.
  • Collaborate with shipbuilders, engineers, and designers.
  • Oversee testing and commissioning of HVAC systems.
  • Stay updated on HVAC technology, industry trends, and regulations.
  • Possess in-depth knowledge of HVAC codes, standards, and maritime regulations.
  • Demonstrate strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Exhibit excellent communication and report-writing skills.
  • Have prior experience in shipbuilding, maritime construction, or ships operation.
  • Be familiar with marine safety and environmental regulations.
  • Hold relevant education in HVAC technology, maritime engineering, or a related field.

Job Details

Walt Disney Imagineering (WDI) is the creative force that designs and builds all Disney theme parks, resorts, attractions, and cruise ships worldwide. Imagineering's unique strength lies in its diverse global team of creative and technical professionals who build on Disney's heritage of storytelling to create new forms of entertainment. Practicing this unique blend of art and science, Imagineers work in more than 100 disciplines to take an idea from the “Blue Sky” concept stage to opening day.

WDI Germany provides technical, architectural, and design services for new-build cruise ships, specializing in managing and overseeing the design, construction, and outfitting processes in Germany and other parts of the world.

Responsible for overseeing and ensuring the proper installation, functioning, and compliance of HVAC systems during the construction of the ship. Works as part of the Site Team that supervises the shipbuilding process and focuses specifically on HVAC systems to ensure they meet regulatory standards, design specifications, and safety requirements.

A Ship New Build HVAC Inspector on a site team contributes to the successful construction of ships by ensuring the effective and compliant installation of HVAC systems, thereby enhancing the operational efficiency, safety, and comfort of the vessels.

This position will be located in Papenburg, Germany.

What You Will Do

  • Inspection and Verification: conducts thorough inspections of HVAC systems at various stages of the ship construction process. Verifies that the installation aligns with approved plans, design drawings, and industry standards. This involves checking the placement of ducts, equipment, ventilation systems, refrigeration units, and control mechanisms.
  • Code and Regulatory Compliance: Ensures compliance with maritime and HVAC industry regulations. Ensures that HVAC systems adhere to international and regional standards set by organizations like the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and classification societies.
  • Documentation: maintains detailed records of inspections, tests, and any corrective actions taken. Documentation helps ensure accountability, regulatory compliance, and provides a historical reference for future inspections.
  • Quality Control: assesses the quality of HVAC system installations and identifies any deficiencies or deviations from the approved plans. Works with the construction team to address and rectify any issues promptly to ensure the systems are correctly installed and function as intended.
  • Safety and Efficiency: ensures that systems are designed and installed to prevent air contamination, manage temperature and humidity, and provide adequate ventilation to promote health and safety.
  • Coordination and Collaboration: collaborates closely with shipbuilders, engineers, designers, and other stakeholders to address HVAC-related challenges and ensure smooth integration of systems with other ship components.
  • Testing and Commissioning: oversees the testing and commissioning of HVAC systems to ensure they are calibrated correctly, perform effectively, and can handle different operating conditions.
  • Adaptation to Change: stays updated on the latest advancements in HVAC technology, industry trends, and changes in regulations to continually enhance their inspection practices.
