Job Description

Walt Disney Imagineering seeks a Senior Ride Project Engineer to lead ride engineering teams, delivering innovative ride systems on time and budget. This role involves managing design, development, testing, and handover, collaborating with diverse teams, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. The engineer will drive projects from concept to installation, focusing on unique requirements for extreme duty cycles and life safety, contributing to magical guest experiences worldwide.
Must have:
  • Lead Ride Engineering team for projects.
  • Responsible for delivering ride systems on time and budget.
  • Collaborate with Creative, Operations, Maintenance, Show, and Facility teams.
  • Lead concept and system design for innovative ride platforms.
  • Define scope, direct teams, and balance stakeholder needs.
  • Execute and improve Ride Engineering Standards of Practice.
  • Manage business interests: strategies, cost estimates, resource plans, and schedules.
  • Ensure comprehensive, high-quality engineering results and system deliverables.
  • Maintain compliance with Disney, industry, and local safety and quality standards.
  • Lead technical and safety design reviews.
  • Prepare bid packages, guide contracts, and collaborate on procurement.
  • Serve as Responsible Individual for vendor and consultant contracts.
  • Oversee vendor design, fabrication, commissioning, and site installation/testing.
  • Validate installations and conduct field testing, including on construction sites.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in engineering design, analysis, production, installation, and test.
  • Experience developing engineering scopes of work, budgets, schedules, and resource plans.
  • Experience leading field installation and testing.
  • Managed projects with budgets over $10 million.
  • Experience as a leader of a technical team through design and delivery.
  • Demonstrated project management and vendor management skills.
  • Hands-on experience with equipment mockups, prototypes, fabrication, assembly, installation, and test.
  • Proficiency in life safety design/requirements of engineered systems.
  • Skill in negotiating scope with stakeholders.
  • Background in outside vendor management.
  • Aptitude for technical issue resolution.
  • Familiarity with Capitalized Project Delivery.
  • Experience leading hazard analysis and system safety design process.
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Systems, or Software).
Good to have:
  • Disney or comparable amusement industry experience with an emphasis on ride systems.
  • Contract management skills.
  • Knowledge of relevant Ride Engineering and industry standards.
  • Familiar with new/emerging technology and applications within the Entertainment industry.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing and quality control processes.
  • Hardware knowledge and hands-on field installation and test experience.
  • Proven track record in successfully leading high value scope.
  • Technical certification: EIT or PE.

You will report to Portfolio Ride Engineering Executive.

This is a Full-Time position.

What You Will Do:

The Ride Project Engineer, Senior, is the leader of a Ride Engineering team for a project and is responsible for delivering ride systems on time and on budget. They are responsible for every aspect of ride system design & development from concept through testing and handover for a wide variety of innovative ride platforms that include unique requirements for extreme duty cycles, high reliability, and inherent life safety. They must collaborate on diverse teams that include both technical and creative members and be comfortable in environments where scope and requirements change frequently.

As a Ride Project Engineer, Senior, you will:

  • Serve as Ride Studio representative on project core teams
  • Collaborate with Creative, Operations, Maintenance, Show, and Facility teams to develop and meet requirements
  • Lead concept and system design for innovative ride platforms
  • Define scope, direct teams, and balance stakeholder needs

Required Education

Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Systems, or Software) from an accredited college or university.
