Job Summary
The VFX Editor at ILM London is responsible for communicating with client editorial, overseeing client turnover, and maintaining the flow of editorial information and databases for show production, supervisors, and artists. Key tasks include tracking client and internal cuts, updating sequences with dailies, providing line-up information, and performing show wrap-up duties. This role requires a solid understanding of VFX pipelines and strong communication skills.
Must Have
- Communicate with production team and client editorial, tracking all stages of client and internal cuts
- Maintain in-house editorial database, tracking render lengths and adjusting cut lengths
- Provide line-up information for retimes and/or post-moves to artists and supervisors
- QC and ingest plates, consolidated media, and on-set reference material
- Update and QC sequences with new dailies from VFX artists
- Output sequence movie files, AIFF audio files, and EDLs
- Perform show wrap-up duties including archiving and editing finals and awards reels
- Experience as a VFX Editor in a Production and VFX facility environment
- Solid understanding of VFX pipelines and team structures
- Strong ability to multitask and meet deadlines under tight schedules
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Effective communication skills
- Comprehensive understanding of editorial materials and workflows
- Proven experience with editorial databases (e.g., Shotgrid)
- Interest in editing creatively
Good to Have
- Previous experience with Avid Media Composer and DaVinci Resolve
- Understanding of Microsoft Excel
- Command-line environments
- Experience with ingesting performance capture and witness cameras

Position Summary
We are looking for a VFX Editor who reflects the collaborative mindset and passion for great filmmaking that define ILM.
The VFX Editor is responsible for communicating with the client editorial team and overseeing client turnover. This involves maintaining the flow of important editorial information and databases for show production, supervisors and artists.
What You’ll Do
- Communicate with production team and client editorial; including tracking all stages of the client cuts, internal cuts and iterations.
- Maintain the in-house editorial database, tracking render lengths and adjusting cut lengths according to client updates.
- Provide line-up information for retimes and/or post-moves to artists and supervisors.
- QC and ingest plates, consolidated media and on-set reference material provided by clients and scan facility.
- Update and QC sequences with new dailies from VFX artists.
- Provide abbreviated cuts and material for client reviews where needed.
- Together with the VFX and/or Animation Supervisor, present creative edits to the client when required.
- Output sequence movie files, AIFF audio files, and EDLs.
- Show wrap-up duties including various archiving tasks and editing finals and awards reels.
- Perform special projects under the supervision of the Editorial HOD, Production Manager or VFX Supervisor - This can include future show bidding reels or providing visual reference for production.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience as a VFX Editor in a Production and VFX facility environment supporting VFX feature or episodic projects.
- A solid understanding of VFX pipelines and team structures.
- Strong ability to multitask and meet deadlines while working under tight schedules.
- A self-starter who is able to work independently, but who is also collaborative and maintains positive relationships within ILM London, as well as global teams.
- An effective communicator, adept at working with a diverse group of colleagues.
- Comprehensive understanding of editorial materials and workflows (e.g., formats, codecs, transcoding, exporting etc).
- Proven experience with editorial databases (ie Shotgird).
- An interest in editing creatively.
Highly Desirable
- Previous experience with Avid Media Composer and DaVinci Resolve.
- Understanding of Microsoft Excel.
- Command-line environments.
- Experience with ingesting performance capture and witness cameras.
This role is Hybrid, which means the employee will be required to work a minimum of 2 days on-site per week at a Company designated location, and occasionally from home.
