Job Summary
The Rockwork Engineer Sr manages the design, engineering, and technical coordination of complex rockwork structures for projects. This role involves overseeing design documents, models, and specifications, ensuring quality assurance, and coordinating with various disciplines and contractors. The engineer will also provide technical guidance, monitor progress, and resolve field issues, requiring a strong background in structural engineering, 3D modeling, and project management.
Must Have
- Manage design and engineering of complex rockwork structures.
- Manage technical coordination of rockwork design documents, models, specifications, and basis of design.
- Lead technical coordination of rockwork design and construction.
- Organize and develop project design criteria, engineering work plans, and schedules.
- Facilitate quality assurance and control for design documentation and field construction.
- Direct project team members on coordination and integration activities.
- Participate in regularly scheduled project meetings with team, consultants, and contractors.
- Provide project teams with rockwork design and construction details and standards.
- Monitor work progress and ensure technical quality and production requirements are met.
- Answer construction bid period questions and resolve field issues.
- Provide technical direction to in-house engineers and designers and outside consultants.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Civil/Structural Engineering.
- Professional Engineer license/certification in Structural/Civil Engineering.
- Working knowledge of structural engineering, current technologies, and codes (steel and concrete).
- Working knowledge of structural engineering discipline, industry practices, construction methods, and contract documents.
- Knowledge of 3D CAD and analytical software for structural engineering design.
- 6 or more years of work experience in structural and/or rockwork engineering.
- 2 or more years managing a small team of structural or rockwork engineers and designers.
- Construction phase experience including submittal/shop drawing review and on-site field inspections.
- Working knowledge of structural design programs such as SAP2000, ETABS, RISA.
- Proven experience with 3D modeling software: Revit, Rhino, Grasshopper, Navisworks, BIM360.
- Registration as a PRC SE and mastering local structural related engineering codes/standards.

- An advanced degree like master degree in the structural engineering field is preferred.
Job Description
What You’ll Do:
- Manage the design and engineering of complex rockwork structures.
- Manage technical coordination of rockwork design documents, models, specifications, and basis of design with AR, ST, MEP, Civil, Landscape, Show, Ride, Creative disciplines, and Rockwork Contractor, in consideration of programmatic requirements (Operational Stakeholders).
- Lead the technical coordination of rockwork design and construction including facilitating meetings and maintaining an IRL (issues resolution log) or similar document.
- Organize and develop project design criteria, engineering work plans, rockwork schedules, meetings, and work plans for projects of varying complexity.
- Facilitate quality assurance and control, both of design documentation as well as field construction.
- Direct project team members on coordination and integration activities related to the technical scope of work; this also includes any 3rd party architecture and engineering consultants.
- Participate in regularly scheduled project meetings with project team, consultants and contractors.
- Provide project teams with rockwork design and construction details, rockwork lessons learned, and rockwork standards information to inform rockwork specifications.
- Monitor work progress and ensure that technical quality, interdisciplinary coordination and production requirements are met.
- Answer construction bid period questions and respond to and resolve field issues and questions.
- Provide technical direction to in-house engineers and designers, and to outside consultants in the production of construction contract documents.
- May lead a small team of rockwork engineers and designers in the production of construction documents for multiple attractions of medium complexity through all phases of design.
What To Bring:
- Graduate of an accredited engineering school with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil/Structural Engineering.
- Professional Engineer license/certification in Structural/Civil Engineering.
- Working knowledge of structural engineering including current technologies and codes, with concentration in the areas of steel and concrete structures.
- Working knowledge of the structural engineering discipline, including industry practices, construction methods and materials, codes, current technology and the preparation and use of contract documents in all phases of design and construction.
- Knowledge of the use of 3D CAD and analytical software for structural engineering design.
