Job Description

This internship offers a hands-on R&D Engineer role at Philips in Plymouth, MN, for students pursuing mechanical or biomedical engineering degrees. Must Have:
  • Assisting in research and development activities associated with new product development and sustaining.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional team members throughout product development phases to ensure program success.
  • Making data driven decisions using appropriate analytical methodologies.
  • Verifying that designs meet functional requirements through the performance of engineering analyses and testing.
  • Establishing test methods, acceptance criteria, and test equipment for all stages of product development.
  • Writing test protocols, analyzing data, and documenting findings in test reports.
  • Completed at least 75% of studies in bachelor’s in mechanical, biomedical engineering or a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Desire to understand and communicate how product is used, designed and manufactured and establish test methods to evaluate design concepts.
  • Detail oriented, highly organized and be able to communicate information effectively.
  • Ability to multitask, take ownership, and collaborate cross functionally with others.
  • Experience using SolidWorks, Excel, and Minitab.

We welcome individuals who are currently pursuing an undergraduate (BS) and/or graduate (MS) degree to participate in paid internship opportunities at our site in Plymouth, MN. Through this role you will gain meaningful, hands-on experience in engineering at a medical device company.

Your role

Ensure the safety and quality of the devices manufactured in our facility meets our customer and patient needs.

  • Assisting in research and development activities associated with new product development and sustaining.

How we work together

We believe that we are better together than apart. For our office-based teams, this means working in-person at least 3 days per week. Onsite roles require full-time presence in the company’s facilities. Field roles are most effectively done outside of the company’s main facilities, generally at the customers’ or suppliers’ locations.

Philips Transparency Details

The hourly pay range for this position is $25.00 to $28.00, plus overtime eligible. The actual base pay offered may vary depending on multiple factors including, job-related knowledge/skills, experience, business needs, geographical location, and internal equity.
