The simulator models data acquisition, processing, and transmission to identify bottlenecks and test hardware/software configurations. The intern will finalize the functional digital simulator, implement testing and validation strategies, write a user manual, and continuously improve the simulator's performance and correct bugs, working within a team of 5 to 10 engineers.
Good To Have:
  • Rigour
  • Autonomy
  • Curiosity
  • Communication skills
Must Have:
  • Finalize the PDHT functional digital simulator, completing 20% of missing functionalities, including automatic reports and advanced priority management.
  • Implement a testing and validation strategy via real and fictitious scenarios, and automate non-regression tests.
  • Write an operational user manual with practical guides for engineers and system architects.
  • Continuously improve the simulator by optimizing its performance, correcting bugs, leading technical meetings, and exchanging with teams.
Perks:
  • Technological expertise
  • Attention to employee work-life balance
  • Inclusive and benevolent environment
  • Recognized societal and environmental commitment (Thales Solidarity, CAC 40 ESG index…)

Your daily life

The Toulouse site is responsible for the engineering of satellite systems, the design and production of payloads, as well as the development and qualification of ground segments. It integrates a research center and an industrial accelerator for start-ups and ventures.

The internship is part of a project to develop a simulator to optimize data management on board Earth observation satellites.

This simulator models data acquisition, processing, and transmission processes, allowing the identification of bottlenecks and the testing of different hardware and software configurations.

Join a team of 5 to 10 engineers from the Payload Data Handling & Transmission (PDHT) department to strengthen Thales Alenia Space's competitiveness and prepare for future space missions.

Your main missions are:

  • Finalize the PDHT functional digital simulator, completing 20% of missing functionalities, including automatic reports and advanced priority management.
  • Implement a testing and validation strategy via real and fictitious scenarios, and automate non-regression tests.
  • Write an operational user manual with practical guides for engineers and system architects.
  • Continuously improve the simulator by optimizing its performance, correcting bugs, leading technical meetings, and exchanging with teams.

Your profile

You are preparing an Engineering degree or equivalent bac +5, specialized in computer science and software engineering, and you are looking for a 6-month internship?

You have skills or experience in:

  • Python language (advanced proficiency) and software development.
  • Unit and functional testing (tools like pytest, unittest).
  • Git for version management and collaborative work.
  • Ability to analyze and understand existing code to evolve it.

Are rigor, autonomy, curiosity, and communication recognized as your strengths?

Then this position is for you!

A word from the team

“Join a team of system architects where your autonomy and creativity will be highlighted!

We count on you to propose technical solutions and explain them clearly to non-specialists. No knowledge of the space sector is required: in exchange for your IT expertise, we will introduce you to a fascinating universe. You will have the opportunity to develop your technical skills while contributing to a strategic tool, in an environment where your creativity and rigor will be valued.”

All our internships are formalized by an agreement and subject to remuneration determined by your level of study.
