Job Description

The Subdiv department is responsible for creating a database containing railway information, filled with georeferenced data collected in the field, essential for the Interoperable Electronic Train Management System (I-ETMS). As a Subdiv Database Analyst, you will be involved in all stages of database development, from planning data collection, preprocessing, design, development, and quality assurance.
Must Have:
  • Graduation in Engineering and related fields
  • Previous experience in Railway Operations
  • Advanced English communication skills
  • Intermediate/advanced knowledge of Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio)
  • Knowledge in SQL and relational databases
  • Knowledge in programming languages
  • Knowledge in computer-aided design (CAD) tools
  • Experience with teamwork

Who will you work with?

The Subdiv department is responsible for creating the database that contains information about the railway. The database is filled with georeferenced data from each asset collected in the field and presents important configurations necessary for the Interoperable Electronic Train Management System (I-ETMS) to function correctly. The database is compiled and used in the on-board system located inside the locomotive.

How will you make a difference?

As part of the Subdiv department, the Subdiv Database Analyst will interface with all necessary steps for database development. From planning the collection of assets/data in the field, preprocessing collected data, project design, development, and quality assurance (QA) of the constructed database.

What do we want to know about you?

  • Graduation in Engineering and related fields;
  • Previous experience in Railway Operations;
  • Advanced English communication skills;
  • Intermediate/advanced knowledge of Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio);
  • Knowledge in SQL and relational databases;
  • Knowledge in programming languages;
  • Knowledge in computer-aided design (CAD) tools;
  • Experience with teamwork.

What will your day-to-day be like?

  • Work within the scope of the Wabtec Brazil Subdiv Segment (Juiz de Fora-MG);
  • Work on projects in Brazil;
  • Interface with teams located in the United States and India;
  • Hold meetings with clients to gather project requirements;
  • Hold internal meetings to discuss and monitor project progress;
  • Plan field activities;
  • Create the design of modifications/new projects;
  • Pre-process data collected in the field;
  • Develop the database;
  • Review and verify database quality;
  • Analyze bugs and defects and propose solutions to improve the product;
  • Prepare work effort estimates;
  • Automate processes to streamline work within the scope of the Subdiv department;
  • Create documentation for activities and processes;
  • Communicate results to leadership.
