Job Description: Lab Technician (Film & TV Post-Production)

Reports To: Post Technical Operations Supervisor
Role Overview
We are seeking a highly organized and technically proficient Lab Technician to join our Lab, supporting scripted and unscripted television and feature film workflows. This role is focused on dailies prep, editorial support, media management and QC. Candidates must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Dailies & Lab Operations
- Carry out technical tasks in our Lab, covering Dailies, IO, QC, Deliverables, and Archiving.
- Work autonomously, taking responsibility and ownership over tasks attributed to you and, when required, having oversight over tasks being carried out by junior team members.
- Ensure all labs tasks are tracked and necessary data passed to Post Production Managers/Coordinators.
- Advise on and implement the most efficient workflows, systems, and processes, ensuring they are to industry security standards and meet company policy.
- Provide front-line technical support of our on-premises and remote edit systems.
- Work with the Project Team and Post Technical Operations Supervisor to fulfil delivery requirements.
- Work closely with the Post Technical Operations Supervisor to identify areas of improvement and provide mentoring to other team members where appropriate and as required.
- Providing support to the Post Technical Operations Supervisor and Post Production Management teams as required.
- This role has a weekend “on call” rota requirement.
- Ingest, transcode, sync audio
- Maintain backups and LTO archiving; manage storage (SAN/NAS) and secure file transfers (Aspera, Signiant).
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years of post-production experience in film/TV.
- Proficiency in Avid Media Composer Adobe Creative Cloud and DaVinci Resolve.
- Solid knowledge of file formats, codecs, framerates..
- Familiarity with shared storage (Avid NEXIS, ISIS, or similar).
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage high-volume, long-form content.
- Proven troubleshooting skills for technical issues in edit systems and media workflows.
- Experience in using scheduling software, the Microsoft Office suite, as well as general IT competency with Mac or Windows operating-systems.
- A sound understanding of the principles, workflows, technologies and terminologies of Broadcast, HETV, VFX and Film Post Production.
- Experience of working within a fast-paced Broadcast and Film Post Production Facility.
- Proven track record in a technical role.
