Our client is a gaming company, currently focused on the casual mobile audience starting with our first few games revolving around the puzzles and allied categories. Our founders are seasoned entrepreneurs who are leaders in the industry and have had successful exits. This is a full-time role for a Lead Game Engineer focused on Client/Unity development. As a Lead Engineer, your responsibility is to build games and game mechanics end-to-end.
Must have:
  • Implement visually stunning effects and animations.
  • Integrate third-party SDKs and platform-specific solutions for iOS and Android.
  • Implement systems to manage game state, player progress, and real-time data flows.
  • Profile and optimize rendering pipelines, animations, and memory usage.
  • Ensure compatibility across various devices, resolutions, and screen sizes.
  • Develop in-editor tools to improve productivity.
  • Automate repetitive tasks and processes.
  • Provide guidance to junior and mid-level engineers.
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in product software engineering.
  • At least 5 years working with front-end frameworks.
  • 4+ years of experience as a developer in the gaming industry.
  • At least 2 years working on mobile games with 50K+ daily active users.
  • Strong foundation in software development practices (Agile, Scrum, sprints).
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and remotely.
  • Proven ability to mentor junior engineers.

Role Description:

This is a full-time role for a Lead Game Engineer focused on Client/Unity development. As a Lead Engineer, your responsibility is to build games and game mechanics end-to-end.

Responsibilities:

  • Implement visually stunning effects and animations that align with design goals, ensuring seamless integration of game interfaces, menus, HUDs, and transitions.
  • Integrate third-party SDKs and platform-specific solutions for iOS and Android.
  • Implement systems to manage game state, player progress, and real-time data flows between the client and backend.
  • Profile and optimize rendering pipelines, animations, and memory usage to ensure smooth performance on target platforms.
  • Ensure compatibility across various devices, resolutions, and screen sizes.
  • Develop in-editor tools to improve productivity for artists and other developers.
  • Automate repetitive tasks and processes to reduce manual overhead.
  • Provide guidance to junior and mid-level engineers, including establishing coding standards, workflows, and processes for client-side development.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5 to 10 years of experience in product software engineering, with at least 5 years working with front-end frameworks.
  • 4+ years of experience as a developer in the gaming industry, including at least 2 years working on mobile games with 50K+ daily active users.
  • Strong foundation in software development practices, including Agile, Scrum, and sprints.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and remotely, while maintaining the necessary collaboration to deliver high-quality outcomes.
  • Proven ability to mentor junior engineers.

Compensation:

  • The company offers fair pay, generally better than the market average.
  • Stock opportunities will be based on the responsibility and ownership demonstrated during the first 6 to12 months.
