Job Description

Ansys, Inc. seeks a Lead R&D Verification Engineer to lead the software testing of Ansys applications, being responsible for a specific testing area within the project team. This role involves developing testing plans, assessing requirements, and providing leadership to ensure quality standards are met. The engineer will work closely with the product creation team and communicate with technical specialists on product issues, contributing to broad or multiple areas of software verification. They will perform exemplary work, lead sub-projects, and be recognized as an expert. Responsibilities include specifying and writing advanced test cases, creating/modifying tests, writing and maintaining test scripts, performing functional, application, regression, and performance testing, leading testing projects, analyzing coverage, managing defects, and tracking metrics. The role requires applying advanced technical knowledge, assisting with cross-team initiatives, investigating complex product issues, and potentially influencing product feature design. The engineer will work in various computing environments and regularly coach other Verification Engineers.
Must have:
  • Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
  • Six (6) years of experience in a related position
  • Experience with scripting languages, including Python
  • Experience in test case design, writing, and implementation
  • Experience with engineering applications and methodologies
  • Experience with CAD
  • Experience with High Performance Computing
  • Knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems
Good to have:
  • Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
  • Eight (8) years of experience in a related position
  • Experience with load and import models
  • Experience with set up constraints
  • Experience with running basic solving of problems
  • Experience running remote solve operations

SUMMARY

ANSYS, Inc. seeks Lead R&D Verification Engineer to work in Canonsburg, PA and various unanticipated locations

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the software testing of ANSYS applications. Responsible for a specific area of testing within the project team.
  • Use expertise to develop testing plans and assess requirements and provides leadership to ensure that quality standards are met.
  • The role works closely with other members of the product creation team and communicates with technical specialists on product issues. 
  • Engineers at this level contribute to the business in broad or multiple areas of software verification.
  • They perform exemplary work in one or more areas, lead sub-projects or initiatives, and are recognized across the organization as an expert in their discipline.
  • Specify and write advanced test cases, create, modify and update existing tests, write and maintain test scripts;
  • Perform functional, application, regression and performance testing in manual and/or automated test environments;
  • Lead testing projects and initiatives, be responsible for coverage analysis in specific areas, participate in defect management, track and report testing metrics;
  • Apply advanced technical and professional knowledge within and across disciplines and product areas, assist with cross team initiatives, investigate complex product issues and problems, work directly with support staff, may influence design of product features;
  • Work in a variety of computing environments;
  • Regularly coaches and may supervise other Verification Engineers.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science or a related field of study, and six (6) years of experience in a related position.
  • Alternate Acceptable Education and Work Experience Requirement: Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science or a related field of study, and eight (8) years of experience in a related position.
  • Work experience or academic coursework must have included:
    • Experience with scripting languages, including python;
    • Experience in test case design, writing, and implementation, as well as test case estimation and planning technique;
    • Experience with engineering applications and methodologies, including load and import models, set up constraints, and run basic solving of problems;
    • Experience with CAD; 
    • Experience with High Performance Computing, running remote solve operations;
    • Knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems
  • Additional work location information: This is a telecommuter position. telecommuting permitted from anywhere within the US.
