About the opportunity

Global Focus Categories (GFC) is a multi-billion dollar global portfolio comprising Fashion, Hard Goods, Vehicles, Parts & Accessories, and more. These categories are key investment areas, and each have their unique market contexts and vertical-specific drivers to unlock growth.

We are looking to hire a Manager/Senior Manager of Strategy and Business Operations, located in San Jose, CA, who will support the Focus Categories leadership team and play an instrumental role in accelerating growth across our portfolio of assets. The role will support strategy development, while delivering on operational excellence in planning, analytics, reporting, and collaboration across a broad cross-functional team. The expectation is that the individual will develop an understanding of the different focus categories and assist with explaining and influencing the business and key strategic initiatives, while also keeping in mind the broader portfolio and driving consistency in approach and process across the board. Key partners include product, marketing, analytics, finance, and trust/risk, among many others, and may span across the US, Europe, and Asia.

The role demands a dual mentality: both that of a strategic leader—who has a deep understanding of the dynamics of two-sided marketplaces, can break down tough problems into clear frameworks, operate in ambiguity, and possesses strong data intuition and executive-ready communications—as well as someone who can move quickly and decisively as an embedded operator not afraid to get their hands dirty.
