You will lead the design, specification, and continuous improvement of tooling for Ceramic Matrix Composite (CMC) processing and machining. The role involves creating tooling models, establishing tool life criteria, verifying performance, and resolving issues. The ideal candidate will identify and address tooling gaps and implement solutions. Continuous learning and expansion of knowledge are expected to increase effectiveness in the role. Must have:
  • Associate Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in Manufacturing Engineering or CMC Manufacturing.
  • U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident.
Good to have:
  • Experience with tooling for aerospace composite parts.
  • Proficiency in CAD modeling of tooling.
  • Familiarity with CMC manufacturing and tooling.
  • Understanding of tool lifecycle and tracking.
  • Experience with Manufacturing Systems (CAD, CAM, etc.)

Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer - Tooling

Working Pattern: Onsite  

Working Location: Cypress, CA

As a Manufacturing Engineer – Tooling for Ceramic Matrix Composites (CMC), you will provide technical support to operations and execute manufacturing engineering activities to develop, maintain and continuously improve manufacturing processes and/or methods of manufacture, which are capable of meeting and continuing to meet business and customer requirements for safety, quality, cost, deliver rate and lead time (SQCD).

What you will be doing:

  • Lead the design, specification, and continuous improvements of tooling for Ceramic Matrix Composite (CMC) processing, and machining.
  • Creating tooling stage models and supplier drawings in line with company and quality standards.
  • Establish tool life criteria implement controls and monitoring. Define and implement tooling passports to track usage, status and lifecycle.
  • Verify tooling performance, conformance, and implementation on the shopfloor. Resolve issues and ensure production readiness.
  • Take initiative to identify and address tooling gaps and drive solutions
  • Responsible for self-development to meet the required competencies for the role and continuously seeking to expand knowledge and experience to increase effectiveness in undertaking existing and new activities.

Basic Requirements:

  • Associate degree in Engineering with 4+ years of engineering experience, OR
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering with 2+ years of engineering experience, OR
  • Master's degree in Engineering, OR
  • JD/PhD in Science, Technology or Engineering, OR
  • 6+ years’ experience in Manufacturing Engineering or CMC Manufacturing experience in lieu of a degree
  • In order to be considered for this opportunity, you must be U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident

Preferred Requirements:

  • Experience in developing or implementing tooling for manufacture of composites or aerospace parts.
  • Proficiency in CAD modelling of tooling, stage definitions, and supplier facing drawings.
  • Familiarity with CMC manufacturing and tooling.
  • Understanding of tool lifecycle and tracking.
  • Handson experience in manufacturing production with practical problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with Manufacturing Systems (CAD, CAM, CAPP, Manufacturing Execution System, Manufacturing Intelligence, SAP, Technical Publications, etc.) relevant to the business.
