Scientific American is at a pivotal moment and preparing to advance our marketing strategy, and we're looking for a customer-centric Marketing & Customer Service Assistant to help support our initiatives. This role will help provide outstanding customer support via email. The role reports to the Director of Marketing. This position requires a strong understanding of customer behavior and knowledge of the latest digital marketing tactics.

About the Role

You will be responsible for daily communication via email to help resolve customer inquiries. This role is customer facing as well as cross-functional, working closely alongside the product and technology teams to provide feedback on the customer experience.

You will coordinate day-to-day marketing efforts and customer service initiatives in partnership with external vendors. You’ll also be tasked with providing marketing support, including creating emails, writing marketing copy, coordinating marketing collateral, etc.

  • Correspond with customers via email and answer their inquiries

Experience, Skills & Qualifications:

Essential

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 1-2 years of marketing and/or customer service experience
  • Demonstrated understanding of creating and analyzing marketing campaigns
  • Knowledge of the latest digital marketing strategies
  • Experience working in a fast-paced office environment is preferred
  • Microsoft Office suite; database management
  • Excellent communication skills - both written and verbal
  • A positive attitude in the workplace and a willingness to cooperate with colleagues

Desirable

  • Knowledge of the publishing industry
  • Experience working with subscription business models
  • Prior customer service working experience

US Annualized Base Salary Range: $46,000 - $55,000. The salary offer may vary based on work experience, education, skill level and equity. The US salary range does not align with the salary ranges in other countries when converted to the currency of that country.
