Job Description

As a Principal Financial Analyst at Barracuda, you will be a key member of the FP&A team, driving financial optimization through headcount planning, forecasting, analytics, and reporting. You will lead the development of long-range plans, annual budgets, and quarterly forecasts, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives. This role involves extensive cross-functional collaboration with business units and accounting, preparing executive review materials, and conducting in-depth variance and cost/benefit analyses to support strategic decisions and enhance organizational profitability and productivity.
Must have:
  • Lead development of long-range plans, annual budgets, and quarterly forecasts.
  • Perform variance analysis to track performance against financial plans.
  • Develop and maintain data models, reports, dashboards, and performance metrics.
  • Prepare executive review materials for financial plans and strategic initiatives.
  • Partner with stakeholders for monthly forecasts and analytical support.
  • Conduct in-depth variance analysis and monthly reporting for business units.
  • Perform sensitivity and incremental cost/benefit analyses.
  • Drive self-service capabilities in Finance using BI tools like Power BI and Excel.
  • Lead complex cross-functional projects with organization-wide impacts.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or related field.
  • 8-10 years in financial planning and analysis, budgeting, forecasting, reporting.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and financial modeling.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to build successful working relationships and influence decision-making.
Good to have:
  • Experience in a technology or software environment.
  • Familiarity with business intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI).
  • Familiarity with EPM systems (e.g., Adaptive Planning).

As a Principal Financial Analyst, you will play a critical role in supporting the Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team. You will collaborate with various business units to optimize financial decisions through headcount planning, forecasting, analytics, and reporting. Your insights will drive strategic business decisions, enhance profitability, and improve productivity across the organization.

What you’ll be working on

  • Financial Planning & Analysis: Lead the development and compilation of long-range plans, annual budgets, and quarterly forecasts. Ensure alignment with Barracuda’s strategic objectives and perform variance analysis to track performance against financial plans.
  • Reporting & Insights: Develop and maintain data models, reports, dashboards, and performance metrics that support key decisions. Prepare executive review materials to communicate financial plans and inform strategic initiatives.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with key stakeholders, including Accounting and various business units, to produce monthly forecasts and provide analytical support. Engage with functional leaders to analyze actual and planned financial performance, identifying opportunities and risks.
  • Ad Hoc Analysis: Conduct in-depth variance analysis and prepare monthly reporting for business units. Perform sensitivity and incremental cost/benefit analyses to support decision-making for new initiatives.
  • Process Improvement: Drive self-service capabilities across the Finance organization by assessing skills and training users on business intelligence tools such as Power BI and Excel. Promote best practices and continuously evaluate and improve financial processes.
  • Project Management: Lead complex cross-functional projects with organization-wide impacts, ensuring timely delivery and effective communication of financial insights to stakeholders.

What you bring to the role

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related field.
  • Experience: 8-10 years of relevant experience in financial planning and analysis, with a strong background in budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting, preferably in a technology or software environment.
  • Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Excel and experience with financial modeling. Familiarity with business intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI) and EPM systems (e.g., Adaptive Planning) is highly desirable.
  • Analytical Skills: Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a track record of developing efficient solutions to complex business problems.
  • Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of conveying complex financial information to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
  • Leadership & Collaboration: Ability to build successful working relationships across departments and influence decision-making at all levels of the organization.
