The Purchasing & Inventory Control Analyst executes daily purchasing and manages raw material inventory to ensure production schedules are met. This role acts as a crucial link between suppliers, production planning, receiving, and central procurement, maintaining accurate inventories, resolving supplier issues, and driving cost-effective procurement. The Analyst also ensures supplier compliance with quality, safety, and business standards, while supporting continuous improvement in procurement and inventory processes.
Good To Have:

Must Have:
  • Prepare and process purchase requisitions and orders.
  • Expedite late or urgent supplier orders.
  • Implement tactical sourcing strategies.
  • Track raw material inventory; monitor min/max levels.
  • Collaborate with production planning for raw material availability.
  • Manage goods receipt, inventory decrement, and reconciliation.
  • Build and maintain positive supplier relationships.
  • Issue non-conformance complaints; partner on corrective actions.
  • Track and report supplier performance.
  • Align with central procurement on raw material needs.
  • Resolve supplier-related issues with production and quality.
  • Provide data for cost reduction, service, and inventory effectiveness.
  • 2-4 years experience in purchasing, procurement, or inventory control.
  • Working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems and procurement processes.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong leadership ability and self-motivation.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.

Job Description

The Purchasing & Inventory Control Analyst is responsible for executing day-to-day purchasing activities and managing raw material inventory to ensure production schedules are met without disruption. This role serves as a key link between suppliers, production planning, receiving, and central procurement to maintain accurate inventories, resolve supplier issues, and drive cost-effective procurement. The Analyst ensures supplier compliance with Stratas Foods’ quality, safety, and business standards while supporting continuous improvement across procurement and inventory processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and process purchase requisitions and purchase orders for raw materials and packaging supplies.
  • Expedite late or urgent supplier orders to minimize production delays.
  • Implement tactical sourcing strategies to enable efficient procurement processes.
  • Maintain processes for tracking raw material inventory; establish and monitor min/max levels for ordering.
  • Collaborate with production planning to ensure raw materials are available in alignment with run schedules.
  • Work closely with receiving teams to manage the receipt of goods, inventory decrement, and reconciliation.
  • Build and maintain positive supplier relationships; ensure accurate documentation is shared in a timely manner.
  • Issue non-conformance complaints and partner with suppliers on corrective actions.
  • Track and report supplier performance through scorecards covering cost, quality, delivery, and service.
  • Work with central procurement to ensure alignment on raw material requirements and inventory levels.
  • Partner with production and quality teams to identify and resolve supplier-related issues.
  • Provide data and reporting to support cost reduction, improved service, and inventory effectiveness.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, or related field preferred; equivalent work experience considered.

2–4 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or inventory control (food manufacturing experience strongly preferred).

Working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems and procurement processes.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.

Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Competencies:

  • Must possess strong leadership ability and self-motivation
  • Strong organizational skills, with ability to manage inventory levels.
  • Good communication skills and teamwork in working with plant personnel, outside vendors

and corporate procurement team.

  • Flexibility to adjust due to production needs.

Additional Information

Physical: Ability to lift 50 pounds, climb stairs, lift, bend, kneel, stand for long periods of time, work in confined spaces, and work with heights

Sensory: Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of Partners, senior managers, and subject matter experts

Mental/Reasoning: This position will require employee to analyze numerous situations while utilizing rational reasoning to come to multiple conclusions
