QA Tester
As a QA Tester at 4J Studios you will take on the responsibility of ensuring that our
games are released at the highest quality to our players. This role will be based fulltime
in our Dundee office, and we are looking to provide this opportunity to an enthusiastic
and proactive individual with a passion for games.
Successful candidates will serve in a QA testing role on our upcoming title Reforj
through its various stages of development, reporting to our internal Senior QA. You will
identify and track bugs and compliance issues in game software, capture screenshots
and video, write clear and detailed reproduction steps, and provide ongoing feedback
from a player’s point of view to improve the overall quality and stability of the game.
Responsibilities
- Execute a daily testing plan to identify, report, and track bugs according to the testing schedule set out by the Senior QA.
- Create detailed Bug Reports to assist the software team in reproducing and
resolving issues found in our games. - Capture screenshots and videos of Reforj whilst in development to support bug
reporting as well as marketing and promotions. - Develop and maintain Test Suites to ensure full test coverage for all our
implemented and upcoming features. - Manage game testing hardware to support internal testing, playtests and feature
reviews. - Provide ongoing feedback to game designers, artists, and the software team to
improve the playability, stability, and overall entertainment value of our games. - Cultivate a positive team dynamic and collaborative atmosphere.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Relevant experience in software QA testing, preferably for game software on PC
and/or console. - Demonstrable knowledge of software QA processes and best practices, with an
overall interest in game development and game hardware. - The ability to work well within a collaborative creative environment, working
closely with game designers, artists, programmers, and senior management. - Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Passion for the latest PC/console video games and game hardware.
Desired Experience
- Demonstrable understanding of game industry terminology, tools, processes, and production methodologies.
- Knowledge of game Compliance such as Sony TRCs, Microsoft XRs or Nintendo
Guidelines. - Practical experience using Game Engines.
- Experience using common QA tools and bug databases like JIRA, Azure, etc.
- Applied use of BDD and Gherkin syntax for use in Test Case creation.
Education & Experience
- 1+ year of experience in a testing role within a software development team, ideally games but not limited to them.
- Undergraduate degree in a relevant field.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Must have the right to work in the United Kingdom.
- Must be willing to work onsite in Dundee or East Linton, Scotland
