Job Description

World Relief is a global Christian humanitarian organization seeking a compassionate Reception and Placement Specialist to support newly arrived refugees in Austin, TX. This role involves providing community orientation, assistance with basic needs, appointments, financial literacy, and enrollment in public benefits and integration programs. The specialist will maintain client records, perform home visits, and act as a cultural broker to foster self-sufficiency. This is a limited-term, full-time, hybrid position, contingent on funding.
Good To Have:
  • Fluency in an additional language such as Spanish, French, Arabic, Swahili, Lingala, Farsi, Dari, and Pashto
Must Have:
  • Provide community orientation, advice, and assistance in addressing basic needs
  • Assist refugees with appointments and other health related appointments
  • Assist clients in creating budgets and provide basic financial information
  • Work to ensure client enrollment to public benefits (as applicable), enrollment in ESL classes, and encourage clients to engage in further integration programs and legal services
  • Assist clients in creating individualized service plans that are goal oriented and tailored to individual needs
  • Maintain and complete detailed and accurate records of client files, case notes, and reporting records and submit monthly program reports
  • Encourage participants to work towards self-sufficiency and early employment (if applicable)
  • Perform home visits and evaluations during service period
  • Identify and address barriers to successful resettlement and integration
  • Operate as a cultural broker between volunteers, church groups, service providers, and refugees
  • Maintain regular communication with clients through phone calls, emails, and office visits
  • Complete reports, service plans, and other tasks related to the Reception and Placement Program
  • Mature and personal Christian faith
  • Committed to the mission, vision, and values of World Relief
  • Desire to serve and empower the Church to impact vulnerable communities
  • Able to affirm and/or acknowledge World Reliefs Core Beliefs, Statement of Faith, Christian Identity and National Association of Evangelicals' For the Health of The Nation document
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Bachelor’s degree or at least one-year experience in an office environment
  • Valid Driver’s License and good driving record

World Relief seeks a Reception and Placement Specialist to provide support, services, and service enrollment assistance to newly arrived refugees as a part of their integration into a new country. This role is based out of the Austin office.

This is a limited-term position funded through a grant agreement until December 31, 2025 and contingent upon funding extension.

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide community orientation, advice, and assistance in addressing basic needs
  • Assist refugees with appointments and other health related appointments

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Mature and personal Christian faith
  • Committed to the mission, vision, and values of World Relief
  • Desire to serve and empower the Church to impact vulnerable communities
  • Able to affirm and/or acknowledge World Reliefs Core Beliefs, Statement of Faith, Christian Identity and National Association of Evangelicals' For the Health of The Nation document
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Fluency in an additional language such as Spanish, French, Arabic, Swahili, Lingala, Farsi, Dari, and Pashto is preferred
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including occasional early mornings, evenings, and weekends
  • Bachelor’s degree or at least one-year experience in an office environment
  • Valid Driver’s License and good driving record
