NaturalMotion is seeking a Senior Economy Designer for the CSR3 team, focusing on crafting a rich, engaging, and sustainable in-game economy. The role involves designing, tuning, and evolving the game's economy, including currencies, reward loops, and sinks. You will work closely with game designers, product managers, analysts, and developers to ensure all systems, from progression to monetization, are rewarding and balanced. Responsibilities include economy system design, data-driven tuning based on player behavior and KPIs, aligning with monetization strategies, designing progression and pacing, collaborating on tooling and implementation, and supporting live operations with forecasts and simulations.
Must have:
  • Experience in game design with a focus on systems and economy design
  • Proven track record on at least one live free-to-play mobile title
  • Deep understanding of free-to-play systems, player psychology, and monetization mechanics
  • Strong numeracy, modeling, and Excel skills
  • Passion for data-informed design
  • Excellent communication and cross-discipline collaboration skills
Good to have:
  • Keep up to date with market trends and do proactive analysis of economy tuning in relevant competitive products
  • Familiarity with Unity or similar game engines
  • A love of racing games, cars, or motorsports

Position Overview:

Our Racing business is responsible for the CSR Racing franchise, including the #1 racing game on mobile, CSR2 and the groundbreaking next installment, CSR3. We are looking for a Senior Economy Designer to join the CSR3 team and help us craft a rich, engaging, and sustainable in-game economy that delights players and drives long-term success. Utilizing learnings, best practices and keen insights into the F2P Collection RPGs mobile space. As a Senior Economy Designer, you will own the design, tuning, and ongoing evolution of CSR3’s in-game economy. You will work closely with Game Designers, Product Managers, Analysts, and Developers to ensure that every system, whether it’s progression, currency, upgrades, or monetisation—feels rewarding, balanced, and deeply integrated into the player experience.

What You'll Do: 

  • Economy System Design: Design, balance, and maintain complex in-game economies including multiple currencies, reward loops, sinks, and sources across short and long-term progression systems
  • Data-Driven Tuning: Partner with Product Management & Analytics to monitor player behavior and KPIs; iterate designs based on qualitative and quantitative feedback to ensure optimal balance and retention
  • Monetisation Alignment: Work with Product and Monetisation teams to create systems that support fair and engaging monetisation strategies, including offers, events, and premium content
  • Progression & Pacing: Design progression systems that support onboarding, mid-game challenge, and late-game mastery. Ensure pacing is well tuned to player motivation and business goals
  • Tooling & Implementation: Collaborate with engineering and tools teams to define requirements for economy tuning tools and dashboards; contribute to economy modelling and simulation frameworks
  • Live Operations Support: Support seasonal content, limited-time events, and economy-impacting changes with economy forecasts, simulations, and data-informed decision-making

What You Bring: 

  • Experience in game design with a strong focus on systems and economy design
  • Proven track record on at least one live free-to-play mobile title, ideally in midcore genres
  • Deep understanding of free-to-play systems, player psychology, and monetization mechanics
  • Strong numeracy, modeling, and Excel skills; experience with scripting or database tools is a plus
  • Passion for data-informed design; able to balance data insight with player empathy
  • Excellent communication and cross-discipline collaboration skills
