Who will you be working with?
Wabtec’s Digital Onboard Solutions Engineering (DOSE) is a leading supplier of technology-based products and services for the rail and transit industries. Our best-in-class and proven Electronics Engineering team with in-depth knowledge of hardware, firmware, validation, and PCB design. You will also have opportunities to work with other Engineering teams, product management, supply chain and manufacturing.
How will you make a difference?
The Senior Engineering Manager – Electronic Hardware will help with reviews during the design process and support hardened electronic products for Digital Onboarding Solutions Engineering within Wabtec. You will work with other Engineering managers/directors to come up with proposals and schedule for new products development. You will work with other Engineering teams to ensure all Engineering processes are being met. You will own the hardware design and lead a team of engineers to deliver high-quality , compliant, and reliable products.
What do we want to know about you?
*BS in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering. MSc is a plus.
*20+ years of experience in electronic product development.
*15+ years management experience.
*Leadership experience, include managing engineering team and driving complex projects.
*Strong ability to drive innovation and continuous improvement in hardware design and development.
*Excellent multi-tasking and problem-solving skills.
*Strong organizational, planning, and program management skills.
*Experience in hardware design and development and understanding of complex concepts related to architecture, design engineering, reliability, prototyping, and failure analysis.
*High degree of attention to detail.
*International culture awareness, ability to communicate and collaborate within global team.
*Effective oral and written communication skills; ability to articulate clearly and concisely.
What will your typical day look like?
*Provide strategic direction and leadership to the hardware engineering team.
*Oversee the planning, execution and delivery of hardware engineering projects, ensuring they meet quality, budget, and timeline requirements.
*Work closely with product management, project management, product engineering, system engineering, software engineering, mechanical engineering, and testing engineering teams as well as manufacturing to ensure seamless system integration and drive the implementation of product features/requirements.
*Mentor and develop team members, promoting professional growth and skill enhancement.
*Review designs of other engineers for completeness, accuracy, cost efficiency, and compliance to specifications and standards.
*Drive highly visible troubleshooting efforts to solutions, under possible stressful circumstances.
*Stay up to date with the latest hardware technologies and industry trends to drive innovation and improvement in product design.
*Work with the manufacturing team, quality team, supplier, and contract manufacturer to resolve any issues that might prevent on time delivery.
You may also be asked to perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary.
