The Senior General Manager - Business Development will drive long-term growth strategies and business plans for Indian Railway and Metro Operators, focusing on new market segments and increasing market share. This role involves identifying opportunities, developing solutions with product management and engineering, creating value propositions, and securing initial wins. The manager is responsible for achieving a $30M order intake by 2026, requiring strong customer intimacy and technical sales expertise.
Must Have:
  • Develop and implement long-term growth strategies and business plans.
  • Increase market share and revenue in Indian Railway and Metro Operators.
  • Grow business in new market segments outside of the installed base.
  • Responsible for all new opportunities in the Transit Services Group.
  • Deliver $30M order intake in 2026.
  • Showcase technical sales and maintain customer intimacy.
  • Identify opportunities to increase share of Wallet in Own Installed Base.
  • Create / develop solutions working with Product management and Engineering.
  • Create Value proposition and 1st Win working closely with Key customer stakeholders.
  • Identify strategic priorities of Indian Railways and Metro Operators and pain points.
  • Work with engineering / Product Management to define solutions addressing those needs.
  • Lead efforts in generating Prospects, Offer Submission, Tender release, First Purchase order.
  • Identify market opportunity based on customer pain point.
  • Work cross functionally and create value proposition to customer on technical grounds.
  • Solution for customer paint point.
  • Generate prospects.
  • Work with sales team for offer submission and fund allocation proposal to customer.
  • Budgetary Quote & Follow-up.
  • Maintain and circulate the tender details to stake holders every week for follow-up.
  • Follow-up and collect MA,DP, LOI/L-1 with regional team & Customer.
  • Contract review, RDSO inspection and dispatch.
  • Achieve Order intake in Pillar 2, 3 and 4.
  • Achieve first Development Order, including vendor approval.
  • Marker Share improvement in P2& P3.
  • Adherence to budget and governance through Bowler file.

Key missions of the position:

Develop and implement long-term growth strategies and business plans to increase market share and revenue in Indian Railway and Metro Operators. The person should be responsible for growing business in New Markets segments outside of Installed Base. The Business Development Manager is responsible for all new opportunity in Transit Services Group. The person will have responsibility to deliver the result of 30M$ order intake in 2026. Customer intimacy is a key factor; person should be in a position to showcase the technical sales.

Roles and Responsibility:

Role:

  • Develop and implement long-term growth strategies and business plans to increase market share and revenue.
  • Identify opportunities to Increase share of Wallet in Own Installed Base. Create / develop solutions working with Product management and Engineering
  • Create Value proposition and 1st Win working closely with Key customer stakeholders.
  • Create a template to scale the business using standard mechanism and transfer to Sales team.
  • Non-Installed base and Innovative solutions: Identify strategic priorities of Indian Railways and Metro Operators and pain points. Work with engineering / Product Management to define solutions addressing those needs.
  • Create Value proposition and 1st Win working closely with Key customer stakeholders.
  • Create a template to scale the business using standard mechanism and transfer to Sales team.
  • As part to achieve those, the BD needs to lead the efforts in:
  • Generate Prospects
  • Offer Submission
  • Tender release
  • First Purchase order

Major Responsibility:

  • Identify market opportunity based on customer pain point.
  • Work cross functionally and create value proposition to customer on technical grounds.
  • Solution for customer paint point
  • Generate prospects
  • Work with sales team for offer submission and fund allocation proposal to customer.
  • Budgetary Quote & Follow-up
  • Maintain and circulate the tender details to stake holders every week for follow-up
  • Follow-up and collect MA,DP, LOI/L-1 with regional team & Customer

Skill sets necessary to succeed in this role

  • Should have knowledge in Tendering & Business Management
  • Should have experience in Indian Railway
  • Work along with cross functional Team

Education/Training

  • Should be an engineering graduate with MBA is an optional.

Professional Experience

  • Should have minimum 10 Years of experience in Technical sales, commercial and working in a cross functional team

Key Competences

  • Business knowledge - Advanced
  • Statutory and legal compliance of contract - Advanced
  • Working on IREPS/IRWCMS - Advanced
  • Communication & Negotiation skills - Advanced
  • People Management - Advanced

Languages

  • Proficient in English & Hindi
