Job Description

Responsible for the supervision of staff and students to ensure a safe and secure operation of assigned Residential area, in compliance with government and management directives. This role involves assisting students with adjustment to center life, monitoring their schedules and hygiene, providing informal counseling, documenting records, facilitating life skills groups, and ensuring safety and security within the dorms and perimeter.
Must Have:
  • Supervise staff and students for safe residential operations.
  • Assist students with adjustment, behavior modification, and mentorship.
  • Ensure students adhere to schedules and arrive on time.
  • Monitor student hygiene, room assignments, and activities.
  • Maintain clean and inspection-ready dorms.
  • Provide informal counseling on stress management and responsible behavior.
  • Document student records and prepare progress reports.
  • Serve as communication channel between management, staff, and students.
  • Facilitate life skills groups (budgeting, renter's rights, chores).
  • Facilitate small group discussions on life skills and conflict resolution.
  • Participate in ESPs for assigned dormitory students.
  • Contact family for pass system consent.
  • Provide prompt assistance for student injuries, illness, or trauma.
  • Conduct monthly individual student meetings and document them.
  • Perform and document regular dorm and perimeter safety checks.
  • Facilitate weekly dorm meetings with accountability checks.
  • Facilitate daily Morning Accountability Checks (MAC's).
  • Ensure equipment and facilities are clean and maintained.
  • Model appropriate CSS and employability skills.
  • Assess personnel needs, screen/interview staff, recommend actions, conduct appraisals.
  • Maintain accountability of staff, students, and property.
  • Adhere to safety practices.
  • Foster a harassment-free, respectful work and learning environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree with 15 semester hours in social services-related instruction.
  • One year experience in counseling or related field.
  • One year experience with youth and young adults.
  • One year supervisory experience.
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.

Job Description

  • Assists students in adjusting to Center life by providing supervision, behavior modification and acting as a mentor.
  • Ensures students meet the required schedule, waking on time and arriving on time for school or work assignment.
  • Provides daily supervision or assistance in monitoring students in personal hygiene, room/chore assignments, and other activities.
  • Ensures dorms are always clean and inspection ready.
  • Provides informal counseling related to stress management, personal problems, etc., and provides insight into responsible behavior and attitudes.
  • Documents student records according to PRH, inputting all relevant student data.
  • Prepares applicable reports to ensure accurate documentation of student progress.
  • Serves as channel of communication between management, staff, and students.
  • Facilitates groups in life skills including budgeting, renter's rights, completing a lease, completing chores, etc.
  • Facilitates small group discussions on life skills, peer mediation, conflict resolution, etc.
  • Participates in ESPs for students in assigned dormitory.
  • Contacts family members for consent for pass system as required.
  • Facilitates prompt and appropriate assistance to students in the event of injury, illness, emotional trauma, etc.
  • Meets individually a minimum of once a month with students on assigned dorm, documenting the meeting.
  • Performs and documents regular perimeter checks of dorm and outside perimeter to ensure safety and security.
  • Facilitates weekly dorm meetings which include accountability checks.
  • Facilitates daily Morning Accountability Checks (MAC's)
  • Ensures all equipment and facilities are clean and maintained in accordance with center, Equus, and DOL standards.
  • Clearly communicates and consistently models appropriate CSS and employability skills including personal responsibility and computer fluency.
  • Assesses personnel needs and works with the Human Resources department to screen and interview potential staff. Recommends promotions, transfers, and merit evaluations within the department. Conducts and prepares performance appraisals.
  • Clearly communicates and consistently models appropriate CSS and employability skills.
  • Maintains accountability of staff, students, and property.
  • Adheres to safety practices in all areas of responsibility.
  • Fosters and sustains a conducive environment at the center, ensuring it remains free from harassment, intimidation, and disrespect, thereby ensuring a safe space for both staff and students to engage in work and learning.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (including 15 semester hours of instruction in social services-related instruction), one year experience in counseling or related field.
  • One year experience working with youth and young adults.
  • One-year supervisory experience.
  • A valid driver’s license in the state of employment with an acceptable driving record
