We're a seasoned team set to create another highly successful mobile game. As part of our exciting journey, we're now looking for a Senior Software Engineer with a focus on game architecture and technology design. Your role will be pivotal in shaping the technological direction for our live mobile game, guiding our tech efforts, and mentoring our game engineers to ensure we create another thrilling title.

Responsibilities

  • Define and enhance our system architecture, including components, interactions, and infrastructure, considering technical, performance, and scalability requirements.
  • Integrate packages from our central tech group to maintain a high-performing, stable gaming experience.
  • Elevate our workflows, tools, documentation, and reporting capabilities.
  • Ensure delivery of high-quality code to meet project requirements and performance targets.
  • Collaborate closely with artists, designers, and other stakeholders to translate their vision into technical requirements.
  • Work with our QA team to identify and address bugs and issues promptly.
  • Stay current with the latest trends in mobile game development and contribute to refining our development processes.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, advocating for software engineering best practices like code reviews, S.O.L.I.D. principles, YAGNI, KISS, and BDUF.

Your Journey at SYBO

In your first month

You'll get acclimated with our game development processes, codebase, and tools, and gain a deep understanding of the project. You'll start contributing via individual tasks, code reviews, and feedback to ensure our work's high quality. You'll build strong relationships across disciplines like art, design, and QA.

During your first three months

You'll start to take responsibility for specific tasks, working closely with designers and artists to support the technical development and architectural design of gameplay mechanics, UI features, and visual effects. You'll also identify opportunities to enhance the existing codebase and propose solutions for performance and scalability. This will include facilitating the integration of third-party tools, SDKs, and central technology packages.

Over the course of your first 12 months

You are now a very important part of the project. Together with your team you will have taken ownership of the game’s architecture, technical health and innovated and improved pipelines, workflows, tooling as well as resolving any issues that came your way.

Requirements

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts to a diverse audience.
  • Professional experience in the mobile game industry, specifically working on F2P games.
  • Strong knowledge of the Unity game engine, its features, limitations, and optimization techniques.
  • Proficiency in C# and a deep understanding of memory management principles.
  • Ability to write clean, efficient code and apply best practices for software development.

Bonus Points

  • Familiarity with the Entity Component System architectural pattern and principles behind data-oriented programming.
  • Experience with native plugins for Android and iOS.
  • Experience integrating with backend services and third-party libraries.
