Job Description

Blizzard is seeking a Senior Technical Artist to join their team and help define and craft their next great game. As a key member of the development team, you will be responsible for delivering tools and pipeline improvements to support the Art and content teams. This includes developing tools and underlying systems for the content creation process, focusing on designing systems with shared functionality and unified architecture, supporting features like content validation, import/export tooling, automating Tasks used in build pipelines, and developing workflow efficiencies. You will also be accountable for the maintenance and stability of content creation pipelines, actively communicate and collaborate with all stakeholders, discover and investigate technologies and techniques for keeping the pipeline modern, relevant, efficient, and feature-rich, write and maintain documentation for tools, procedures, and best practices, and maintain and grow a culture of collaboration and trust.
Must have:
  • 5+ years of experience in AAA Tech Art for games
  • Proven experience shipping a major game title
  • Experience writing tools/scripts/code libraries in Python
  • Experience working with version control (e.g. Perforce)
  • Experience in modern game engines and their workflows
  • Knowledge of Python scripting and related UI frameworks
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and documentation skills
  • Creative problem-solving skills

We are looking for a Senior Technical Artist to help us define and craft Blizzard’s next great game. As a key member of the development team, you will be responsible for delivering tools and pipeline improvements to support the Art and content teams. You understand how to effectively improve pipelines by providing tools, processes, validation, code reviews, scripting and API support. You are a champion of sustainable processes, trust, and collaboration with other teams and are comfortable operating in a startup environment, navigating through ambiguity with purpose.

This role is anticipated to be a hybrid work position, with some work on-site and some work-from-home. The home studio for this role is Irvine, CA.

What You Bring to the Table

  • Develop tools and underlying systems for the content creation process.

Minimum Requirements

Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in AAA Tech Art for games.
  • Proven experience, having shipped a major game title in a relevant role.
  • Experience with writing tools/scripts/code libraries in Python or other scripting languages.
  • Experience working with version control on projects (e.g. Perforce).
  • Experience in modern game engines, and their workflows.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Knowledge of Python scripting and related UI frameworks.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and documentation skills.
  • Creative problem-solving skills that lead to innovative solutions on challenging technical problems.

In the U.S., the standard base pay range for this role is $80,800.00 - $149,400.00 Annual. These values reflect the expected base pay range of new hires across all U.S. locations. Ultimately, your specific range and offer will be based on several factors, including relevant experience, performance, and work location. Your Talent Professional can share this role’s range details for your local geography during the hiring process. In addition to a competitive base pay, employees in this role may be eligible for incentive compensation. Incentive compensation is not guaranteed. While we strive to provide competitive offers to successful candidates, new hire compensation is negotiable.
