Your Team, Your Impact
As a hardware and silicon validation engineer, you’ll be helping to deliver high bandwidth over long distances. This team performs analog validations on amplifiers that drive optical electronic devices and receivers. We also validate silicon photonics, do upper electronic measurements and support the coherent digital signal programming unit. This is a niche area, working with cutting edge technologies used by many internal and external customers around the world.
What You Can Expect
- Develop, port, execute, and debug software to validate functionality across multiple high-speed SerDes and SoC blocks.
- Create, maintain, and enhance code to support new SerDes features, Ethernet optical standards, and validation methodologies.
- Collaborate closely with Design, Firmware, and Validation teams to debug issues, perform root-cause analysis, and drive closure on failure cases.
- Define, document, and review test plans; prepare validation results and share findings internally and with external stakeholders.
- Design and execute tests to characterize performance, throughput, power, and robustness of SerDes and related SoC blocks.
- Contribute to automation and data analysis flows for large-scale SerDes validation, leveraging advanced statistical methods and machine learning where appropriate.
- Support silicon bring-up and customer engagements, including lab debug and travel as required.
What We're Looking For
- Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field with strong academic achievement (GPA ≥ 3.8).
- Alternatively, Bachelor’s degree with significant professional experience (≥ 5–7 years) in high-speed I/O or SerDes validation.
- Familiarity with SerDes characterization and validation in Ethernet optical PAM4 systems (100 Gb/s, 200 Gb/s per lane).
- Hands-on experience with lab instrumentation for SerDes work: high-bandwidth oscilloscopes, BERTs, VNAs, optical modules, logic analyzers, pattern generators.
- Understanding of signal integrity, equalization (CTLE/FFE/DFE), jitter/noise analysis, and high-speed link performance metrics.
- Exposure to post-silicon validation flows, including bring-up, debug, stress testing, and PVT (process, voltage, temperature) characterization.
- Software / Tools:
- Solid skills in scripting and automation (Python, MATLAB, or similar).
- Knowledge of statistical data analysis, machine learning (e.g., random forests, neural networks), and advanced data visualization is a plus.
- Strong willingness to learn and contribute to a collaborative team environment.
- Ability to travel when required for silicon bring-up or customer-facing debug activities.
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
- Able to manage multiple demands and work across disciplines
