Job Description

Fluence, a global leader in energy storage and optimization software, seeks a driven Site Manager for a 2-year contract. This role involves leading the construction of Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects, ensuring successful, on-time, and on-budget delivery. The Site Manager will minimize project risks, prevent incidents, and proactively manage on-site activities, reporting directly to the Snr Construction Manager/Director of Construction. This position is crucial for transforming global power and accelerating a sustainable energy future.
Must have:
  • Provide leadership and guidance in construction planning to the site team.
  • Co-ordinate all on-site construction activities related to BESS installation.
  • Work closely with the Project Manager and provide daily feedback on Construction progress.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety and environmental standards and procedures.
  • Actively lead the site teams to promote and develop a strong Health and Safety culture.
  • Study all internal product documentation to familiarise with core BESS equipment.
  • Work with client teams and meet contractual obligations.
  • Communicate regularly with internal project, safety, engineering, commissioning and business administration personnel.
  • Oversee site staff, Principal contractors, sub-contractors to ensure safety, quality and schedule are met.
  • Evaluate construction methods to determine cost-effectiveness of plans.
  • Respond to specific conditions on site, e.g. schedule delays, emergencies or other problems.
  • Be available to work a flexible roster and provide site coverage as required.
Good to have:
  • Experience managing similar High Voltage Electrical Projects in excess $200 million
  • Previous BESS experience or Power station, Switchyard, or Transmission Line projects connecting to Australian grid

An industry leading energy storage technology company requires a driven, passionate Site Manager who is committed to transform the way we power our world and accelerate a sustainable energy future and help deliver one of the largest portfolios of contracted energy storage in the world.

The role of the Site Manager is to lead the construction of BESS Projects to achieve successful completion meeting or exceeding the expectations of all stakeholders. The Site Manager is responsible for achieving on-time and on-budget delivery, reducing project risks, avoiding incidents or accidents, and proactively working on-site on one or more projects.

This position reports directly to Snr Construction Manager/Director of Construction.

This position is a 2-year contract.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and guidance in construction planning to the site team, interfacing and working with the project site teams to minimize risk and maximize business performance.
  • Co-ordinate all on-site construction activities related to BESS installation, including planning; Site mobilisation; Bulk earthworks; Detailed Civil works; Inground earthing; Mechanical Installation of equipment and electrical cabling works and pre-commissioning works and punch list close-out.
  • Work closely with the Project Manager and provide daily feedback on Construction progress and weekly reports.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety and environmental standards and procedures. Actively lead the site teams to promote and develop a strong Health and Safety culture from project conception to final completion.
  • Study all internal product documentation to familiarise with core BESS equipment including all manuals and internal procedures.
  • Work with the client teams and meet contractual obligations, communicate regularly with internal project, safety, engineering, commissioning and business administration personnel.
  • Oversee site staff, Principal contractors, sub-contractors to ensure safety, quality and schedule are met.
  • Evaluate construction methods to determine cost-effectiveness of plans, implementing changes to ensure this.
  • Respond to specific conditions on site, e.g. schedule delays, emergencies or other problems.
  • Be available to work a flexible roster and provide site coverage as required by the project.

Qualifications

  • Experience managing similar High Voltage Electrical Projects in excess $200million. Previous BESS experience or Power station, Switchyard, or Transmission Line projects connecting to Australian grid.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications including, MS Project, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and other basic computer skills.
  • Excellent Proficient verbal and written communication skills are required for this role.
  • The successful applicant should be comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and be able to problem-solve with proven practical and engineered solutions
  • Proven interpersonal skills are essential, with a strong attitude to promote and develop a growing team..
